The refugee camp at Calais has already been set ablaze, and I have no doubt that will only be the beginning. We're about to see a wave of violence against Muslims, Sikhs, Syrian refugees, and just about everyone who looks brown. In all honesty, I feel powerless. I don't think there's anything I can do.

I was always a little awkward in this fandom. At the point when I arrived, Game of Thrones was a spreading dark spot on the cultural landscape, and cute cartoon ponies felt like my only option if I didn't want fiction where life sucked and everyone died. Idealism was such a powerful tonic for me that I was willing to ignore everything else that bothered me, both in canon and in fandom.

I'm thinking of leaving the Short Stories group, but no one else is moderating it at this point. My attempts to find a mod turned up nothing. I hate to see it get abandoned again, but I'm not sure what to do.

I figured I'd stay with my parents while I took a summer class to qualify for my CPA license. Long story short, my computer is now on the dining room table so they can see what I'm doing. I cannot write like this.

I'll find some workaround if someone needs me to edit, even if I have to get up at 5 in the morning. In the meantime, I'll pop in when I can to work on the Short Stories group. (I still need someone to help me recategorize all those stories . . .)

A bunch of the authors I'm following are letting everyone know they're still alive, so I figured I'd do so, too. I'm on antidepressants now, and they seem to be working. I'm just juggling some really homework-heavy classes lately, so I haven't had much time to moderate Short Stories, let alone work on Chitin. I promise it's not dead yet, and I hopefully won't be dead either by the time I finish this semester.

It's called To Understand, and it's a Five Nights at Freddy's fanfic. It's only my second non-pony fic, and I'm pretty proud of it. (The first was a godawful Mass Effect fic that got sporked on Something Awful.) Anyway, I think I'm getting back into writing now, though I'll probably be pretty slow for a while.
