  For the first time, since college

  After more than a decade of cooking nothing, I finally prepared a few eggs for myself, on a stove. The last time that I did this was back in college, during the 2006-2010 time frame. It was during an attempt to lose weight, which was successful. After that point in time, I had no major reason to cook anything for myself. Therefore, I did not.   This. My active reading journey has come to this. "Sixteen Ways To Defend A Walled City," by K.J. Parker.

  After making several attempts to comprehend old-fashioned siege warfare, through various odd works of fantasy that feature sieges, various books covering historical wars, such as the Punic Wars between Rome and Carthage, and the videos of YouTube channels like "Shadiversity," it's finally come to this. A novel that is completely devoted to a city in a siege.

  Looking forward to the holiday break

  Usually, I find the winter solstice season, or the post winter solstice season, to be rather relaxing. Depending on where I'm employed, things quiet down before or after Christmas, and since 2016, I've had jobs that offer paid time off, for the holidays. For both of the employers that I've had, since 2016, the work load lessens, by Christmas. The winter solstice break of 2018 has probably been my favorite, since it involved two entire weeks off.
