You need to "Publish" a chapter so that the word count will appear. Go to the story page (the one where you see the cover art, the description, and the chapters). Look to the left of the chapters. Do you see the red dot? Click it, and it will turn green. Now the site can "see" the story. You don't need to click those until you're ready, though. The words in the chapter exist, but they are just "invisible" and waiting or you to say that they are "good to go." I hope this helped!
