Inquisitor M

Why 'Inquisitor'? Because 'Forty two': the most important lesson I ever learned. Any answer is worthless until you have the right question. Author, editor, critic, but foremost, a philosopher.

Finale: The Fragile Heart · 8:25pm Oct 28th, 2013

Usually, when I've finished a chapter I get a sense of completion from writing a blog post that posting the chapter alone doesn't quite provide. The chapter is the work, but the blog is more like focusing on the work that produced it, even if that's just a bog standard 'hey, look what I did' post.

Today? Not so much.

Today, I have the need to soap-box.

Moments of Revelation · 10:44pm Sep 29th, 2013

Greetings to the new watchers that have signed up over the last two days! The penultimate chapter is of Shades of Grey is up, where the last pieces of the puzzle fall into place, and the end of one struggle marks the beginning of a harder, more meaningful, one.

Moments of Transition · 12:54am Sep 8th, 2013

Seriously. I don't think I have gone over one piece of text so many times since Bitter Sweetie. Still, it's finally done! Shades of Grey chapter 16, Moments of Transition, is up, which just leaves two chapters and an (albeit long) epilogue to go. Last time round, a number of folks found the epilogue to contain some of the best bits, so stay with me.

I promise to try and get 17 out in something less than another lifetime...

Judgement · 9:25pm Jul 14th, 2013

On the one hand, Bitter-Sweetie was posted up on Equestria Daily this week, and Chris gave what I thought was a very positive review of Movements of Fire and Shadow on One Man's Pony Ramblings.

All good.

Is anyone surprised that things didn't go according to plan? Trying to rewrite the next chapter of Shades of Grey reminded me that it was by far the hardest to write first time round; in fact, I stepped off and whole the whole last chapter to give me a break from it. It's not technically difficult, but to say it's a very personal emotional drain would be an understatement. Luckily, something came along to shake my funk.

Finally, the revised Chapter 12 of the Shades of Grey is up, and the journey it took to get there was quite exceptional.

It's been a while... · 6:40pm Jan 30th, 2013

Well hello there, my little quantum fluctuations!

It's been a really rough couple of months, and while things aren't exactly resolved, there is plenty of good on the horizon—even if it seems a long way off. While my work on Shades of Grey stalled completely, I have managed to put some time into a side project that I would very much like to draw your attention to: Bitter-Sweetie.

Dixie City Jam by James Lee Burke + folks I'm helping + S3 E1 · 12:30am Nov 12th, 2012

Reading has been slower then intended due to my concentration being horribly shot, but I have more than enough information to discuss the points I was looking to broach. The short of it is that Dixie City Jam is written in exactly the style I have learned (not that I have learned enough to do it justice yet).

Feeling a little lost. · 7:57pm Nov 1st, 2012

The short of it is, I'm struggling a bit at the moment. Life is just grinding me down a bit more than usual and I'm not fairing too well, so all progress on my projects had ceased. Instead, I'm going to try something different and see if that gets me in some kind of groove.

Well, I didn't think it would ever happen, but... · 2:14am Oct 12th, 2012

I remember back when Romance Reports went up on the vault, and it had a whole post before it about putting a clop-fic on there at all. I have to admit I was intrigued, so I read it, thoroughly enjoyed it, but openly said that the claim of 'it's a story where the clop matters' was false. I enjoyed the story, but it could have lost the clop and been very little worse off for it, perhaps even slightly better.
