This is the first Applejack episode of the second season. At this point of time, it really seemed that AJ was being demoted to “background pony”. The writers weren’t really sure how to write a pony in to the show without any major character flaws. This was a problem which seems to have finally been remedied in Season 4.

Ah, here we are. The first half-hour episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. This episode is one in the early stages of MLP history. At this point, we don’t really know that much about Twilight Sparkle or her friends. We just know what their elements stand for and that their friendship does great things for Equestria, such as saving the world from Nightmare Moon. This episode was a hot topic even before it aired, since “Luna Eclipsed” was the first appearance of Luna since “Friendship is Magic”. Princess Luna had already won the hearts of many MLP fans. I guess the question comes down to: how was Luna’s first appearance in Ponyville? This is also an episode about “Nightmare Night” which essentially is the Ponyville equivalent of Halloween.
