Well, I'm pissed.
Just a brony who likes trains. LONG LIVE STEAM!!!!!
Well, I'm pissed.
I was so pissed yesterday. At school, during the playing of Taps and the moment of silence, a good portion of my class was on their phones. The teacher yelled at them, but they still were on them. My Great-Great-Uncle died on Iwo-Jima to keep this country free, so they could sit there on their FUCKING CELLPHONES during a moment of remembrance. Then I looked at the rest of the class. Everyone else was giving the people who were on their phones the evil eye. Then at the end of the
Well folks, Fire Up 611! has reached an important milestone. Funds are in place to mechanically restore the iconic steam locomotive, fundraising efforts shift to focus on the maintenance facility. Nearly 2000 donations have poured in from across the country and 15 countries, proving the Roanoke-designed and built locomotive is beloved around the world. It’s no longer a matter of “if” the Class J 611 will run again, but “when” she’ll return to excursion service.
Doyle McCormack has done it again, folks! After an 11 year restoration, Nickel Plate Road 190 was fired up for the first time! Doyle bought the ALCO PA, one of 5 surviving in 2002. One other is running, but it is in Mexico. I MUST get out to Oregon to see it!
Union Pacific is moving Big Boy 4014 to it's Cheyenne, Wyoming, steam shops to begin restoration! UP thinks that they can have the locomotive ready by 2019 for the 150th Anniversary of the driving of the Golden Spike! If that thing ever came through my town, I'll need duct tape to keep me from drooling all my bodily fluids away!
It's official that Union Pacific has made an agreement with Southern California Chapter - Railway & Locomotive Historical Society to transfer ownership of Big Boy No. 4014: http://www.uprr.com/newsinfo/releases/heritage_and_steam/2013/0723_4014.shtml. One thing bothers me-How are going to make the No. 4014 burn oil even after No. 4005 failed the oil burning experiment. I'll bet they'll (Union Pacific)
OK. I am currently at the city library on one of their computers. My computer at home keeps crashing, so I will be AFK for a while on relation to the story. FEAR NOT! I will have the next chapter out soon.
Ok, I am getting the next chapter started. It will take a while, because I have run into a brick wall known as Writer's Block. Don't worry, I'm building up a head of steam to bust the wall down.
