Black Lives Matter. Good things are good, actually. I write about wizards and wizards' apprentices. 90% of prophecy is just pattern recognition.

So a while back I saw Wil Wheaton share this post, with these two images in it:

Book? Book! · 10:27pm Jul 24th, 2023

Since EFNW is quickly coming up and people are starting to talk about it, I figure I should say publicly that Twilight's Book Nook will be carrying The Education of Clover the Clever, available in both hardcover and paperback. So if you're attending the con and haven't bought a physical copy, why not stop on by and check it out? Help make the fimfic bookstore a success, and keep a fandom tradition alive.

I sadly will not be there myself but I hope everyone will have a spectacular time.

I was out biking today when I passed by a graveyard, and I saw something I'd never thought about before.

For those who don't read Norwegian, the sign warns that deer might eat flowers on the graves. It also has a list of recommended flowers the deer don't like, as well as a list of flowers they discourage since the deer find them delicious.

Story plug: Scales of Attraction · 6:46am Jun 21st, 2023

Hey guys, check this out. Relaxing Dragon, author of the classic fic The Many Deaths of Rainbow Dash, is back with a new story, one I've been lucky enough to preread for. It's a cozy, slow-burn Spike/Scootaloo shipfic with slice of life high school shenanigans, and it's just really nice. If anything in that combination of words appeals to you at all, please check it out.

In honor of Sir Terry. · 12:30pm May 9th, 2023

Lately I've been reading the official biography of Terry Pratchett, which was released last fall: A Life With Footnotes, written by his longtime personal assistant Rob Wilkins. I'm not normally a big reader of biographies, but for this I made an exception. It's a wonderful book, vivid and evocative all the way through.

"Merlyn" · 11:36pm Apr 28th, 2023

I was today years old when I learned that the Welsh word for "pony" - or at least one Welsh word for pony - is "Merlyn". And you know, as a pony wizard aficionado, I feel like someone really should have mentioned this before? At some point in the last dozen or so years? But better late than never.

Very late to this particular party, but literally just now it struck me that the Hearth's Warming Eve story is structured like a very small Homeric epic.

New Year's Roundup · 6:30pm Dec 31st, 2022

Happy new year, everyone. The temperature is mild and the sky is clear, and I'm looking forward to an excellent night of watching fireworks.

I just saw this picture I had to share: a Changeling wedding dress.
