This story is a sequel to Boast Busters - Extended Cut

An Extended Cut side story, the first second of its kind!

It's been a couple weeks since Rainbow Dash left Gilda behind in Innsbeak, and she's had time to think. It isn’t going well. A follow-up to Griffon the Brush Off: Extended Cut.

Out of everything, the one thing on my mind right now is how Rainbow's cloud home could possibly be impacted by an HOA. Unless the EC AU has her living in a cloud neighborhood instead of a lone cloud home like in the show, and even then, it's a cloud home; couldn't she just move it outside the HOA's area of influence? It really makes one wonder about the nature of home ownership and property law in Equestria as they relate to pegasi.

The Admiral and I actually had a big discussion about that: legally, RD owns a small plot of empty land on the surface, but the value of her otherwise mobile cloud house is calculated as if it were a fixed residence, for property taxes. Without that ordinance, pegasi families would pay a disproportionately small amount of local taxes. Ponyville is multi-tribal, so it has a bunch of laws that factor in stuff like this. This is not the case in all towns and cities throughout Equestria, however.

This touches on two major points regarding pegasi in EC.

The first is that, while more mobile than surface structures, I never thought of cloud buildings as easy or economical to move. Even if they are able to hold up structurally (which is itself dubious), there are going to be organizational hurdles to doing so on any real scale.

The second is that, generally, Equestrian law is set up to accommodate pegasi, and magic, and a bunch of other things that could potentially be used to cheat around it. Having played more than a few tabletop RPGs of various kinds with Serketry, I can tell you he's extremely good at finding loopholes and oversights in systems like that, which here means he can then point them out to me and I can close them off. There's actually a couple-page text document sitting on my hard drive right now that's just us talking about the history of the Equestrian tax code, and how it was initially reformed after the Lunar Rebellions and how Luna might adjust it in the future to reflect changes in the way the economy operates post-industrialization.

It seems that all that drinking did help Rainbow Dash but I'm sure Twilight's goign to need to look for ani-hangover spells when she wakes up.

It seems that Rainbow doesn't really know what to think of her relationship with Gilda or what that actually is. Twilight hitting on Rainbow only confused me so I didn't think about it really.
