This story is a sequel to Ultimate Spiders and Magic: Episode IV "Friendship Games"

Peter is undergoing the mother of all mutations, and he becomes the terrifying Man-Spider! The Rainbooms soon take it upon themselves to take down the monster as it roams throughout the city, but they are in over their heads, leaving Fluttershy to team with the unlikely alliance of Logan and Kraven the Hunter. Can this ragtag group stop the Man-Spider and restore Peter's humanity before he is lost forever?

Awesome chapter! I really hope RD apologizes at some point, she’s been such a bitch to Peter for no reason.

Agreed! And Rarity as well!

I don't know how they thought Peter was bad news in the first place, but I'm getting sick of them misjudging him and treated him harshly for no reason. :applejackunsure:

Just when you thought that (most of) the Main Seven weren't trusting of Peter/Spider-Man, suddenly Man-Spider will happen and they'll despise him EVEN MORE than they already do(again, most of them). It sucks that they're untrusting of Peter, mainly Rainbow Dash, which sucks for me since she's my favorite pony/Equestria Girl. But then I have to remind myself that not only does Peter's luck suck, but Peter hasn't given them a reason to trust him. It sucks that things are how it is now, but it's going to be satisfying the moment all of the Main Seven trusts him.

Well, that happened.

As much as I hate what's happening to Peter, I'm almost as concerned for Flutters. Diamond going after her with that fake note from "Spiderman" is low.

Things are about to get EXCEPTIONALLY ugly. Especially with the emergence of the darker part of being a SPIDER-Man.

So glad to FINALLY see this! And just in time for Halloween/Nightmare Night too!

Things are getting pretty darn insane in Peter's life and they only seem to be getting worse as his mutation is going haywire! He's blown off some of his friends and injured the girl he cares about as more than a friend, though thankfully Sunset senses something is wrong and she's more worried than upset. However, Rainbow and Rarity still aren't giving Peter an inch. It's kinda upsetting, but perhaps they'll get better here, or in another story (based on some art from edcom02, I can bet Rainbow may at least change a little in regards to Spidey.)

I'm also worried about Fluttershy. I can only hope things turn out alright. Diamond here is as much of a bitch as her uncle is a jerk. I'm wondering if Flutter's adventure with Wolverine and Kraven (still surprised HE'S making an appearance) will affect her admiration of (and sort of crush on) Spidey, or if it will strengthen it as she struggles to bring her hero back from self-destruction.

Keep up the good work and hopefully we can see the next chapter very soon. Take your time though.

Update soon, this will definitely get very interesting

I almost feel sorry for whatever villain decides to mess with him this time around.

I love the man-spider mutation. It's a shame they never explore it in the comics or the games.

A horror story? This should be interesting :trixieshiftright:

I know. That's the reason for the delay. For some reason, the website has had fits with me trying to upload this piece for the cover art. Fortunately, it is resolved!

The Man-Spider mutation from the 90's animated series was my favorite arc from that show. I'm so happy to see you're doing your own spin on it!

"The pain is excruciating!" :fluttershbad:

Ever since he has learned from Octavius that he is mutating, Peter has been suffering nightmares of his inner demon the Man-Spider, his senses have gone into overdrive along with occasional mood swings and an overwhelming appetite and now the first stages of his mutation is starting to progress evident by his changing appearance. Oh boy, this is going to get hairy from here on. If the Rainbooms didn't trust Spider-Man then, Man-Spider is going to make this a lot harder.

And good grief, Rainbow and Rarity! They STILL don't trust Peter and they didn't even stop to consider that maybe he's sick and that something might be wrong with him. Sure Peter made a bad first impression on them and hasn't given them a reason to think otherwise about him ever since, not to mention he unintentionally hurt Sunset's hand which he didn't mean to do, but still! A line has to be drawn at some point. And if some parts of Peter's humanity will still linger within Man-Spider, I'd say it will mostly be the negative aspects of his personality that will lash out at the Rainbooms for the way they treated him. Only Sunset and Fluttershy haven't been cruel to him, though I'd say Flutters will be more capable and have the better chance of reaching the man within the Spider. Hopefully by the end, this whole event will be a big eye opener for the rest of them that maybe they've been too harsh on Peter and Spidey.

Lastly, :flutterrage: God damn that Diamond Tiara! Tricking Fluttershy into thinking Spider-Man asked her out to a Saturday Night Dance. That is VERY low of her. And at a time like this as well!

Was it because the file was too big? I had trouble trying to share the cover on the group forum a while ago. I was only able to do it once I exported the file into a jpeg to reduce the file size.

Seriously. I'm almost hoping Man-spider knocks her and Rarity through a wall or two.

H-happy halloween, i am not terrified of Man-Spider in any versions. Nope. Not at all.

Definitely not imagining the blood curling pain of suddenly having 6 arms, 6 eyes and 6 fangs. Nope. Noohoho sir.

Ah shit. Not Man-Spider. One of the few things that actually scares me when it comes to Spider-Man

11409861
That had to have been the case. Soon as I did something similar and made it smaller, it uploaded without an issue.

Honestly, the distrust and misplaced anger Rainbow Dash and the others in the HuMane 7 keep throwing towards Peter is really starting to grate on my nerves. I can't even remember how exactly started (it's been a while since i last read the early stories) but them treating him so harshly has long overstayed it's welcome. OK yes, Peter's infamous "Parker Luck" incredibly sucks, but did it ever occurred to Rainbow Dash and Rarity that Peter might not be very well? Like if he's sick or something along those lines? No, of course not. They just automatically assume that how he is currently acting is his true nature and double down on the hate.

Honestly, i hope someone gives them major wake up call and a verbal lashing about their attitude and behavior towards Peter. It doesn't matter if it is Sunset, Aria, Fluttershy, or even Trixie, just someone open their eyes and hammer it into their skulls! :flutterrage:

And then there is Diamond Tiara! :flutterrage::flutterrage::flutterrage: What a little C:yay:t! Seriously, her tricking Fluttershy with the note into thinking Spider-Man asked her out to a Saturday Night Dance. That just crosses a line even for her. And the timing for her to do this is the ABSOLUTE WORST possible timing with Peter starting to turn into Man-Spider. Knowing her, she'll use the Neogenic Mutation as "proof" for her and her asshole Uncle JJ to turn Spider-Man into a monster and just ruin things and make it harder for Peter. I hope this spoiled little b:yay:ch gets a reality check and much needed discipline.

And i don't even want to know what Fury and Bon-Bon will do to Peter during or after this.

Okay, seriously. I know you're impatiently eager to know about when's the next chapter coming and so on, but It's really starting to get annoying. You did it too frequently in the previous story, especially knowing that he had to take a short hiatus in-between. So can you PLEASE stop badgering the author about it and just respectfully leave him to his own schedule?

Anyone know more about the man spider cause I never read the comics about it?

11410573
It comes from the Spider Man 90s cartoon show. It is pretty easy to find on YouTube. Type in Spider Man turns into a Spider.

I hope we get to see peter and sunset hook up soon, cause I really like their dynamic

I see…

Me: Why did I just feel a chill?

Do you think that the ultimate comics green goblin will appear later on?

11409808
How was this problem even possible?

I thought this would only happened if he tampered and messed with his mutation,

Or if the spider queen was involved

To make matters worse, Peter doesn’t know connors nor the doctor who becomes Callisto who can make the cure?

And the only other cure is the blood of morbius but he’s not here

I’m afraid he could be that way for a long time

Or worse Peter hasn’t faced kraven before so it’s likely he hasn’t earned kravens respect yet and could try to kill him

Man I wish more people wrote like you. You do the personality of Peter Parker so well in this, while most stories just make the Mc just some Boy Scout. I mean I like quips and snark in my stories. I love how you bring him in the story while not changing much but also changing plenty at the same time.

I’m suprised he didn’t call school to say he didn’t feel well…that could have saved drama for the sunset scene

OH MAN I JUST REMEMBERED…every time he gets sick Peter temporally loses his powers until he recovers

It’s how was wasn’t strong enough when Gwen was killed in the classic comics

Oh, this is not looking good for Peter. Otto better finish that serum quick!

11410593
I remember that story arc! It’s a fascinating thought: his dna would continue mutating until the spider took over. All of Spidey’s powers and the mind of a monster.

Spider-Man is gone. Now there is only...Man-Spider! :pinkiecrazy::pinkiecrazy:

The nightmare has begun! Peter has fully mutated into Man-Spider. The serum he needs to cure himself which Octavius is working on is only two days away from fully synthesising, which is unfortunate that it couldn't be completed on time before hand since the progression of Peter's mutation accelerated faster than Otto could've anticipated. That means for the next 48 hours until the serum is done, Man-Spider is free to roam amok around Canterlot City where it will either terrorise the citizens and put a deeper dent in Spidey's reputation or, if part of Peter's humanity is still intact, try to find somewhere to hide where no one can see him. I just hope Octavius can complete the serum much faster before the spider overwrites the human part of Peter permanently.

The Loser Brigade have noticed the recent change in Peter's behaviour and Sunset confronted Aria about if she had anything to do with it. It was quite out of line of Sunset to accuse Aria like that since the Siren has no reason to control Peter or his emotions. And even if she did wanted to do that, she can't anymore since she and her sisters no longer have their magic since the Battle of the Bands. Did Rainbow and Rarity even consider this first hand or did they just forgot about that? That or they just simply don't like the company Sunset hangs out with. At least Sunset was level headed to believe Aria, even after getting called out about how her friends have treated Peter. She's just worried about Peter as Aria is and only wanted to be sure. Aria will likely know first what happened to Peter when she learns of Man-Spider, but she'll probably won't disclose that to Sunset since she doesn't fully trust her and it's not really her place to tell Peter's identity

And it looks like Fluttershy has figured out Peter is Spider-Man after comparing a sketch of his alter-ego with a sketch of his older variant, Spider-Knight, and simply rubbing off the beard to match the resemblance. Though she is not yet certain, she will no doubt be determined to help Peter and save him from his own inner demon. And maybe, just maybe, she'll be the one to finally slap some sense into her friends for their harsh treatment towards Peter.

Otto reached into his pocket, retrieving a second pair of shades. “Just a little under forty-eight hours.” Using a cloth, the man wiped all dust from the eyewear before placing them over his face. “Until then, I suggest you go home and simply rest. Once the formula is ready, I will come to you and administer it personally. I would have you wait here, but with young Twilight Sparkle working, we wouldn’t be able to conceal your secret. I’d say return here tomorrow.” Pursing his lips, Otto haplessly shrugged. “I’ll get in touch with Twilight and have her stay at my home with my wife. We can say that the lab is under renovation and we get your situation under control.”

Before anyone could respond, Spike eased out of Twilight’s room and yawned, stretching his limbs. He soon paused upon glancing at the trio with a sleepy gaze. Suddenly, the dog’s eyes widened as a dangerous scent entered his nose, sending his mind into an upheaval. All friendliness left Spike’s demeanor as he snarled and barked madly at Peter. He charged forth, ready to pounce on the young man, but Otto casually reached out, capturing the animal in his arms before he could reach Peter.

A shame they couldn't bring Twilight into this. If it weren't for keeping Peter's secret or the fact that she and him aren't really on the best of terms right now, she could've helped with the serum. And Spike noticed the change of scent Peter was giving off and went hostile as animal instincts took over. He will definitely detect that familiar scent from Man-Spider.

And Otto is confirmed to be married, to who I assume is Rosie from "Spider-Man 2". As if Ock's future villain origin couldn't get any more tragic.... :ajsleepy:

Alternative fic title: So I've Mutated into a Man-Spider? So What?!

THE ITSY BITSY SPIDER... CLIMBED UP THE SKY SCRAPER... DOWN CAME THE RAIN BUT IT FAILED TO WASH IT OUT.... OUT CAME THE SUN TO FILL US FULL OF DREAD... AND THE ITSY BITSY SPIDER WAS OUT.... FOR BLOOD.... AGAIN.

Now before I begin this comment, please be fully aware that I love this series of fics. Enjoyed each one...however how the girls treat peter is leaking into 'out of character' and bully territories. They assume the worst of him every time and it grates a bit...not enough to ruin the story or stop me reading, but certainly not how the 'elements of harmony' should act.

I know peters supposed to be a bad luck magnet but he has a few friends...I also really hope that fluttershy works out she's being tricked by diamond tiara.

The fact aria's managed to make sunset at least realise that she and her friends shouldn't be constantly assuming the worst of peter is good and I certainly hope the girls learn this lesson.

Ooooooh CRAP :twilightoops:!!!! This is bad, this is very, VERY BAD!!!!! Peter has fully mutated far faster than Otto expected! Now Spider-Man is Man-Spider and free to run amok! This could potentially be real bad for Spidey's rep, especially if people see this monster in the vigilante's clothes.

It's good Sunset kept a relatively level head about her and realized her worries about Aria weren't right. She's extremely worried about the boy she's grown to care for as more than just a good friend and you know what they say, love makes you do stupid things sometimes. If Sunset had her abilities from "Legend of Everfree" things would possibly be easier to figure out. A touch and she'd know the truth. Aria knows what's happening (sort of) and might try to help the Man-Spider Brigade (Wolverine, Kraven, Fluttershy, Otto and Spitfire) as well as comforting May if she finds out. Unlike in the 90s series, May KNOWS Peter is Spider-Man, so she will likely learn the whole story from Otto.

Fluttershy is close to figuring out the truth and if that happens, she'll hget more wrapped up in the situation than she likes. She may run into difficulties with Sunset as a (very slight and possibly sorta) love rival. Plus, if she figures out Peter's identity, she may be able to talk sense into her other friends, ESPECIALLY Rarity and Rainbow. I can see her lighting into them and then, upon seeing everyone's shocked or insulted faces, she immediately freaks out and thinks, "Oh my god! I just cussed out (for her at least) my friends!" her moment gone.

Needless to say, things are going to get VERY difficult going forward for many parties.

Ditto on all counts, but keep in mind, despite them being representations of Harmony and counterparts of the ponies who wield them, they live in a world that is not as fuzzy and kind as Equestria, particularly in one combined with the Marvel universe which is PRETTY darn dark and cynical. Plus, while Ponies may be quicker to realize their mistakes after getting a bit of sense knocked into them or learning a lesson, humans aren't like that unfortunately. Their human natures to make many mistakes and act with their feelings than heads may be keeping them from thinking clearer or nicer than their Pony counterparts possibly would be. In addition, I know from experience that a pretty bad first expression (or just a bad impression in general) can stick with a person for a while. I unfortunately caused a bad experience with a former co-worker and she treated me relatively coldly and even meanly the whole time I knew her, even when I tried to fix things and be nicer. Not a total excuse and I hope they get better too, but it may explain some things; they're humans, not Ponies and humans make LOTS of mistakes and can be REAL jerks before they get better.

“The same ? Stop talking like you know him and projecting! Out of everyone here, you hang with us the least , and half of your friends don’t have a good thing to say about him!”

...when you make one of the Sirens more likeable than most of the Mane6, you know its bad. Aria's a REAL G for FINALLY laying it out like this, cause god knows NO ONES done it. Not even Sunset who seems to really like Peter. Everytime Rainbow or Rarity say some rude comment about Peter, Sunset always seems to brush it off or give a half assed comment like "he's not THAT bad"

But Aria finally cut the shit straight, and I'm very thankful for it

Smirking, Otto took hold of a pencil before etching notes onto the nearest pad. “You sound like Peter. He’s been beside himself ever since the students were given those medals.” The man pointed the end of his pencil to the side, aiming at a metallic object stuck to the side of a cabinet. “He even went so far as to turn his into a magnet out of spite. Needless to say that Twilight didn’t appreciate it when he bolted it to her locker. Now she can’t seem to remove it.” Stifling his own laughter with a cough, Otto’s lips trembled as they struggled to remain straight. “Nevertheless, I was quite surprised how colorful young Twilight’s vocabulary could be.”

After magnetizing Twilight's locker...

Peter: "Heh"
Man-Spider: "Heh"
Peter: tf was that

11412300
That is a fair point. I'm going this route because the girls aren't as infallible as everyone thinks and Peter doesn't help his own case by actually talking to them. These are the same girls who were driven apart by weak rumors from Sunset that would have otherwise taken seconds to clear up. Plus there's the controversial tale of Anon-a-Miss, where the girls are QUICK to believe rumors and abandon Sunset.

These girls aren't as mature as their pony counterparts. They are teenagers and have a tribal mindset. Gang mentality. Plus, it's mainly Rainbow and Rarity who have the issue with Pete with Sci Twi fueling the fire. All while AJ and Pinkie are neutral while Sunset and Shy like him. It doesn't help that Peter is associated with the riff-raff of the school, Aria, Trix, and etc... Add in Peter's bitter and apathetic attitude and you've got a recipe for disaster on both ends.

They won't always be like this, but the friendship will be earned by fire.

When I read that double no it reminds of the one episode 14 of the spectacular spider-man animated series

Fair point indeed. Humans make mistakes a lot before they become better people and the girls aren't like their Pony counterparts and easily accepting of lessons of what they've done wrong. As you said, they are more prone to think with their feelings ("if someone insults me or knows someone who was mean to me, they must be mean too.") and jump to conclusions. Basically, their human emotions and selfishness are overpowering their Element of Harmony thoughts and empathy.

At least it's only two who really need sense knocked into them. AJ and Pinkie DO seem to be willing to at least watch him and see if he really is that bad, but being cautious due to his company and not antagonizing him actively like Rainbow is. And Fluttershy and Sunset are willing to give Peter a chance (especially since Shy seems to have figured out Peter's secret as the apparent heroic vigilante who is being bad mouthed and villainized at every turn.)
