It's been a few weeks since the Friendship Games. This world's Twilight Sparkle is struggling to adjust to her new school and her new friends. Sunset sees this, and resolves to help ease Twilight into their group in any way she can.
A late night encounter, a pep talk, and a little bit of whipped cream – all things that seem insignificant on their own – cause Sunset to reflect on how she feels about her new friend and herself. Is she really just trying to be a good friend to Twilight because it's the right thing to do, or do her motives run deeper than even she realizes?

As someone whose first story on Fimfic was also about Sunset waking up in the middle of the night and having a conversation with a friend about troubling things, I enjoyed this. The first-person works and the story flows naturally. A strong debut!

After finishing the chapter yesterday, I weighed whether or not to put it up as a one-shot or not. I figured I'd sleep on it, and when I woke up I hammered out a second chapter much faster than I anticipated. Turns out
projectingwriting in first person is lots of fun! So this will definitely have a few more chapters of delving into the depths of how gay Sunset truly is.Of course there was a sneaky marshmallow involved. Well, cat's out of the bag Sunny.

Well... I am willing to bet that Rarity has a crush on Sunset but is willing to know when to quit just like she mentioned to Sunset.

Well, the marhsmallow schemes to get the nerd and the firecracker together. I can't see any way that this could go wrong. (That's a lie. I can see plenty of ways it can go wrong.)
Rarity has "multiple reasons" for helping Sunset getting together with Twilight, eh? I wonder if her main reason was because Rarity has feelings for Sunset herself, but was willing to let her go to be happy?

well, speaking of fast updates, and about the chapter... I love it!
TBH, Timber one of the reasons I disliked Timber almost immediately was he reminded me far too much of guys I knew in highschool and college that were, for a lack of a better description "skirt-chasing pricks." Was that the author's intentions? I'm pretty sure not. But that doesn't change that it's how it came across.
Protective Sunny would be scary to be on the receiving end of. Particularly since she's psionic, so if she touches you, congrats, all your personal information is her's, like bank account numbers and passwords.
Of course Timber is being a jerk to Twilight and made her feel like she wasn't a good girlfriend, despite that he was being a terrible boyfriend!
It's a good thing Sunset was there to help Twilight out, even as only a friend.
I loved this chapter, I'm a little surprised that sunset smokes, but seeing how it makes sense, plus he had to have a lot of self-control.

You'd think Rarity would need to be involved for a chapter to have this much sheer drama, but oooooof.
Poor Sunset. Grappling with so much self-loathing over her feelings for Twi, second-guessing literally every action of hers in fear that it might be read as a predatory move -- and do I detect some lingering ex-villain guilt in there? But even as she tries to contain them, her emotions are just leaking out so much that Twilight, still reeling from her own heartbreak, is having to comfort her. Yow.
Some real gut punches here. Can only hope there's catharsis on the horizon, but good, good stuff.

This story (so far) has been written from a very personal place, and one of the aspects of Sunset's character I relate to the most is how much regret she has over her past actions. I have no experience being a magical demon, but I can relate to being an impulsive bully at one point in my life. So it's been easy to wedge a lot of myself into her character through that one aspect alone. Trying to unlearn that behavior is difficult, and you spend a lot of time second-guessing all your actions because you become afraid of relapsing without even realizing it.

Not to spoil anything, but there is one chapter left!
Just when I thought the previous chapter was emotional.
It was heartbreaking that Rarity was willing to let Sunset and Twilight be together, even though she missed her chance. But at least Sunset still cares for Rarity as her best friend.
