An unexpected summons finds Princess Celestia spending a night alone with an elderly barkeep. The Bent Shoe Tavern has served many a customer in the past, but just what does this simple watering hole have to offer to the Goddess of the Sun?

(This is not particularly a sequel to Unconventional Family Trees, but does occur within the same canon.)

Chronologically the 4th installment in the Equestria B Ficverse.

Rated Teen for magical alcohol use and crude language.

I'll be sad when ol' gravel-voice dies, but at least he got into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and had a laugh at the music industry's expense :pinkiehappy: .

Immortality sucks.

Will we, by any chance, get to see a prequel featuring Star Swirl? Seeing Tom Waits actually working and doing his job as Death could be neat.

Also, Johnny... Cash? :twistnerd:

I'm considering a prequel, yeah. I like writing with unicorns and alicorns in mind, their magic grants pretty much limitless possibilities when it comes to the plot and whatnot :yay: .

Heh, you caught me :twilightblush: . I planned on basing a bunch of Celestia's old friends on favorite musicians of mine. It's still up in the air, however, whether or not Johnny's going to be another former god or just a regular pony that she was simply close to :moustache: .

This was an extremely sad sad story.. :/ ... why not just live forever? mayber he didnt want to wait another thousand years to see her smile.. Or maybe he felt that was enough.. poor Celestia..

No worries, yo, she's a big girl. She just needs to let it out for a bit before getting back onto her hooves and soldiering on.

As for Tom, the way I saw it in my head, he'd been there and seen a lot of ponies die. He'd seen it for a long-ass time. In the end, he just got... tired. Worn down. He was ready to go himself, but he wanted to bury the hatchet before shuffling off. That and, maybe, just maybe, see something that wasn't as dark as death that he hadn't seen in a long time.

Sadness level: 2 out of 50

So not very sad at all? :rainbowwild: Oh well, I can't win 'em all, can I? :derpytongue2:
