I had that dream again.
Just as last time, I was standing in the middle of a field, staring at the night sky.
I remember feeling much heavier than last time; like I was wearing multiple lead overcoats at the same time. The air was a hot, thick soup, reeking of rotten eggs and window cleaning fluid. Every breath sent my lungs aflame.
And the sky…the sky was full of worms.
They were everywhere: bloated, writhing spheres the size of bowling balls, like someone had scooped up a handful of nightcrawlers and squeezed them into balls. They shone with a light that wasn’t light, shimmered with color that wasn’t color.
And as I looked, in the empty spaces between these not-stars, I could see a web. Impossible Filaments of spun of unlight, pulsing with uncolor, stretching across the entire night sky.
And the worst part? The knowledge that I was nothing. A germ clinging to a speck of dust. All I could do was stand there, helpless, while those worm-stars and that impossible web looked down on me.
The Next day fluttershy will be gone
This story isn't going to have a happy ending..

What makes you say that?

the only way this can end well is if it isn't happening

Pretty much what the other person said. Unless this is a nightmare fever dream Sunset is having, the world is doomed and Sunset is going to be eaten by some unknowable horror from beyond reality.
Oh jeez
That worm part was the best part and honestly I wonder about the idea behind this story! It’s slither because of the worms right?!

Like Stephen King's Langoliers?

Not unless Sunset tears one out of the worm-stars with her bare, goddamn hands. Which doesn't seem likely, but I can't completely rule it out.
It's not going to end very well for Sunset after what she just described in her dreams.

More like Loop Hero
Discord: that's my mother your talking about!
Noooooo! I need this all to be a bad dream!
Well, it seems like Eldritch Horrors are consuming reality. The real question is why Shimmer is the one can notice.
I at first thought might have something to do with the loss of magic in equestria... but this feels like it is something so... so much worse.
SkyWorms and SkySpiders? Definitely going to give this reality one star.

Probably because she's from a different reality, and is considered an outside context problem. The world she's in honestly doesn't know what to do with her.
Poor little pony wasn't made to deal with Lovecraftian horror. Let's hope she can survive long enough for she to somehow turn things around... Or learns to live in whichever nightmare get reality becomes
Oh wow. Ok, narratively, Sunset is probably looking at two options here: go completely insane or go Old Man Henderson on these things. I'm really hoping for the latter or the third option, whatever that is.
Two possibilities for the story, methinks:
1. Sunset gets devoured by these monsters, and the journal ceases to exist.
2. Sunset ate far too much cheese last night and is having a really weird nightmare.
