Long ago, a story was told. You, the reader have picked up the journal off a shelf in a little known alcove and have decided to flip through it's ancient pages.
Smell the dust, enjoy the pictures, and try not to worry too much about that rip in the cover.

Although not fully compliant in it's execution, I wanted to write what I felt was a story that captured the feelings of both understandings.

I really admire how much this vividly feels like a journal, which I know was your intention. This also read in a very poetic way, and despite the main character never being named, I could feel the inner struggle to keep fighting, even when everything seems out to get you. They never gave up, it's a good message in this world. Keep up the good work!
