Following her restoration in 2022, the battleship USS Texas BB-35 disappeared in the Gulf of Mexico en-route back to Texas. Suddenly, those aboard her find themselves in a new world, and may soon have to fight for their lives
11671376 This was thanks to a video I watched from YouTuber Mike Brady, on his channel "Oceanliner Designs". I can't remember which video (he has so many), but he did one on how the Titanic's engine order telegraphs worked, and that's what inspired the scene where Todd explains to Fluttershy how it works on the Texas
And yes, the story is back. It was never dead, it was just taking me so long to write, due to real life difficulties. I fully plan on finishing the story, and hopefully it won't take me so long to write the next Chapter(s)
And I'm still alive, and I've been here the whole time, just not writing as fast/much as I wanted to. I did release 4 short stories prior to completing this new Chapter, "6 Old Gravel Cars", "The Demon Line", "Midnight Run", and "A Nostalgic Restaurant", but now I'm back in the swing of things, working once again on "Texas", and "Tale of 2 Big Boys"
And yes, I'm still alive, and I've been here the whole time, just not writing as fast/much as I wanted to. And no, this story isn't dead, it just got heavily delayed, which was why it took so long to get this most recent Chapter out. I'm glad that you're happy though
And as of right now, there's zero sex, nudity, or even mentions thereof in the story. I had to add that tag, because I planned on there being a few sex-scenes, but they won't appear for quite a while yet, as the 2 characters who'll be involved in said sex-scenes have only just met in the story, and haven't even become friends yet, much less started a relationship. Most of the story will be focused on the war against the Black Baron, with a bit of romance happening on the side, that'll lead to sex eventually, but not for a long while. So you can safely share this story with your friend
11671639 I believe it would be most beneficial to have such scenes in their own Chapters, and being tagged as such, so those that are not interested can skip them... as well as keep anything Important narrative out of those chapters.
Some people are here for the Battle Boats and pew pew, not romance.
11671682 Ah, it would seem that perhaps you've been reading my story "Battleship Express", and/or "Beyond the Express", as that's exactly how I do it there. Each Chapter that involves sex is clearly marked, and is a ".5" Chapter, meaning that if there was a sex scene after Chapter 6 for example, then that Chapter would be Chapter 6.5, rather than Chapter 7. Most likely I'll do the same for "Texas" too
11671697 I haven't, i had so far only looked at this Story, because it caught my eye.
It just seems the most... tasteful way to handle it. Short of making a Second story entirely for the Clop.
My friend's all time favorite Fanfic was Arrow 18 Mission Logs: Lone Ranger, and tends to like American Military types portrayed positively, so this looks like, on the surface, a good pull for him.
Doubt you'll terribly care for my Fanfics about a Zebra coping with Zombism, and a comedic commentary on a certain Storytelling trope that was incredibly common at the time it was written, but i still feel compelled to suggest them, as i am currently toying with finally pursuing the larger Fic Series it was supposed to kick-off... But again, as they do not contain "statistics-porn"(hilarious term), i doubt they'll tickle your Fancy as much as your Story has mine.
Also i was far less capable both at typing and narrative back then... years of DMing table top games had gotten be way more confident in that, however.
This fic is also in my OWN Read-later list, and I'll likely give it a try next time i want something More action then the usual vampire and romantic Shmalts i read on this site.
"Yes and no. As time went on, optical rangefinder technology improved, negating the need for so many main guns, and then finally in the 1930's, radar-guidance for the guns began to be introduced, but it was piss-poor at first. However, by the end of WW2, it got scary how accurate these kinds of radar-guided main guns, radar-guided secondary guns, and even radar-guided AA guns could be. A 16in, 1,000lb shell could be plopped onto a target from 23 miles away in rough seas, fog, and while the ship is being tossed around, and land within 30 feet of the projected target area."
Pinkie's eyes got as big as saucers, and her jaw hung low. Even Rainbow Dash, who had been overhearing this conversation couldn't believe what Captain Bob had just said. No Equestrian warship was that accurate with its gunfire, but then again, Texas was more advanced than anything Equestria had, and from what she'd overheard me say earlier, Texas was obsolete even by the standards of WW2. So if Texas was already accurate with her radar guided guns, what kind of damage could these other battleships, which Captain Bob called "North Carolina-Class", "South Dakota-Class", and "Iowa-Class" Battleships possibly do? She wasn't so sure if she wanted to find out.
Imagine how more terrified they are if he explains the capabilities of this type of ship:
11671785 I would highly recommend it, and its sequels. They're among my best-loved stories. In fact, I'd recommend reading all of my stories, save 2; "Bermuda Beginnings" (my very first story. Good idea, but a failed execution), and "Back from Death" (this story never should have left the drawing board)
Kind of. The way I intended it, you get the full experience if you read the clop chapter, but if you skip it, you don't miss too much, and can still understand the story
Hmm, I haven't heard of this story. I might have to look into it
I might look into these stories if I have time. And I'm glad that you like the term "statistics-porn"
Neither was I, as my first 2 stories, "Bermuda Beginnings", and "Back from Death" will attest
And I was thinking of the Des Moines-Class Heavy Cruisers, able to lob 90 rounds a minute with pinpoint accuracy onto a target in rough seas, but you're also more than right with mentioning an Arleigh Burke-Destroyer. Small ship (with a shitty little gun, but that's a rant for another time) but quite deadly when it comes to her wide array of missiles. If Captain Bob, or any of the Texas crew talk about the ships of the Modern-Era with the Equestrians, which may happen at some point, then yeah, I see a lot of jaws hitting the ground, and some Ponies possibly even passing out from shock
And thanks. It's nice to get "Texas" up and running again
It would be alot more interesting if one of the 4 Iowa-class Battleships (with their Cold War Modifications and crew) would join Texas on this adventure.
11671675 Makes sense. it'd be interesting to see if the Equestria girls would happen in this AU in the future. Other than that I am enjoying your story.
And I didn't have any plans to do that in this story. There's a number of stories here on FIMFiction that focus on, or feature the Iowa-Class Battleships, but yet there was only one other story, the now-deleted "Ponies and 16in Guns: Landfall" that ever featured the USS Texas, and now that story can only be found in the FIMFiction Archives after its author, "An Iowa-Class Battleship" deleted his account. I decided to give Texas the spotlight in this story, and she'll be the only American Battleship to make an appearance, at least as of right now
11671977 Eh, I didn't have any plans for the Equestria Girls in this story, so you can consider them non-canon to this AU. And I'm really glad that you're enjoying the story
11673764 Aren't the Space Marines from Fenris the ones with the Canis-Helix, making them basically Human-wolves, who also ride huge wolves into combat?
Blessed be this day, a new chapter!
Excellent chapter you did a excellent job I can’t wait to see what happens next
Thanks Scarfox for another great chapter.
Awesome chapter. A little technical but I learned something new that I didn't know.

Finally Its not dead yeee so happy
Glad to see this again! Not enough good stories like this now a days, hope to see more!
I got a friend who likes Military in Equestria stories, but the "Sex" tag has me hesitate to share this, how vulgar is that aspect?
11671553
Hello Lunar Eclipse Airsoft,
And no, this story isn't dead, it just got heavily delayed, which was why it took so long to get this most recent Chapter out. I'm glad that you're happy though
11671605
Hello Prince Jules Moonshade,
And I'm glad that you're happy "Texas" has returned. And I agree, there's not enough stories here on FIMFiction like it

trust me dude, it has a LOT of the epic-ish sounding names.
Praise be! Praise be! A fine chapter. Glad to see our persistence helped in the long run. I eagerly await the second chapter

Hello Horsepoweryt,
And I'm glad that you enjoyed this chapter, and I hope that you also enjoy the next Chapter
I am very happy that this story isn't dead.
11672649
From what I've seen of it, it certainly does. Like "The Death Korps of Krieg", or "Fenris" for example
11673651
Hello Hunter 2-3,
And this story was never dead, my writing just kept getting delayed due to Real Life getting in the way
11673734 Fenris is the frozen world of the Imperium's SPACE VIKINGS Chapter, yes. WH40K has Vikings, in S P A C E. XDD Space Vikings.
Fenris breeds heroes like a bar breeds drunks -- loud, proud and spoiling for a fight.
Grandmaster Belial of the Dark Angels.
