its not obvious in the first few chapters because its a jumbled mess that is incomprehensible and because it cuts from him during WWII to being in Equestria to being back on earth during the early 2000's or modern days it also implies he fought during Vietnam and the way this is written and all of this makes it impossible to read and know what the hell is going on.
Because it is just cutting from Past, Present, Equestria, Earth and back again without any apparent rhyme or reason and the MC being handed power without any explanation and when ever he needs something, its just BOOM he has or knows the thing.

sorry I also use a translator to read EVERYTHING so in English I only reply to replies. I don't know maybe it's the translator or getting used to the lower quality stories (No offense to the author, this story is fine by my criteria) but it wasn't hard for me to understand who Talion is after a few chapters.
