Zion isn't irradiated though. That fact you can drink the water without getting rads and the fact that that the plant life is stable and alive. Also, you can get fresh apples in New Vegas so its not that hard to imagine that you could grow apples in Zion.

Thanks, I have been out of ideas for a long time.
I'll just say it: the girls are just going to be along for the ride. This is more than just a mere friendship problem; this is war. All that really matters now is which side Tom and the ponies will take. I think Tom and Applejack will side with Graham, seeing as Tom is a hardened wastelander and Applejack is a stubborn cowgirl, while Fluttershy will side with Daniel. Though she may not side with him for long once she finds out how kind he is (Waking Cloud's husband). See, before the Breezies, Fluttershy was very much like Daniel, being almost stifling in her kindness. But, now that she knows better, and sees the same mistakes, she may think twice about supporting him. And if she finds out about the Suvivalist? She may well choose to fight.
Edit: However, when it comes time to face Salt Upon Wounds, I think that Fluttershy would convince Joshua to let him go. She seems to have earned his trust enough that he would listen to her.

Ok here’s some constructive criticism like you asked for.
Generally you’re not supposed to have two different speakers within the same paragraph so Fluttershy’s line needs to be structured out. I think I saw other examples of this problem in earlier chapters, but was too busy reading to bother pointing it out. Just wanted to point this out since you asked for it.
So another thing that I’ve noticed is that you sometimes use multiple instances of past tense in the same sentence. In the first instance in this paragraph you already have the past tense be established with ‘used’ so ‘served’ should just be ‘serve’ in that sentence.
