11700043 Technically, the site's rules prohibit me from directly linking to a mature-rated story, even if it was posted in FimFiction. I think I tried embedding What They Expect to Give in the story description (which is a funny workaround for the site rules, because if people have mature stories turned off, then the embed won't work) but you can't add embeds there.
This story really is meant for readers already familiar with What They Expect to Give. I just detached it as a courtesy to those who didn't want their FlutterDash interrupted by a rare pair. Sorry if that was confusing for you.
If you need the original fic this spawned from, here's the embed:
[Adult story embed hidden]
I went and double-checked if embeds work in story descriptions just to make sure I'm not remembering wrong, and while it seemed to work in preview, it doesn't seem to actually work when viewing it normally. It just shows the code and the URL instead of displaying the proper embed.
Nothing like playing a little music, bonding over childhood trauma, and then later comparing emotional, and physical, scars to bring a couple of gals a little closer together.
This isn’t a dig, I know you’re working with the storytelling limitations of EQG being a FiM spinoff, but it feels weird to me to imagine that your version of Sunset Shimmer, the bisexual, sometimes-surly mouthed, emotionally numbed, streetwise criminal used to be a talking horse.
11700043 After I looked over the site rules, I realized it doesn't explicitly prohibit me from linking mature stories in story descriptions, but it doesn't actually say I can either. I got some clarification from FimFiction's discord help channel, and they said if we can link mature stories in blog posts tagged with a mature story, then we can probably link those in a mature story's description. It wasn't an official ruling, but since nobody has said it would be an issue, I'm just going to go ahead and do that.
You're probably not that invested in this, but I just wanted to thank you for setting me on the path to getting that answer, anyway.
Phew weee, I’m so happy to see another chapter from this story drop! I’ve been re-reading my favourite sections for days (which is most of the chapter 😅) and I’m so intrigued to see more of Sunset and Applejacks relationship develop!
Spoilers for the chapter! Here were some of my thoughts while reading:
“I’m just living for Sunset flirting a bit with Applejack and Aj subconsciously going with it!” “Also new Sunset lore dropping with her and Starburst being related in this universe??? :0” “Sad to see Aj thinking of Fluttershy and it just dampens her mood, I’ve been there 😭” “Song time? Song time!” “SO YOU HAVE MAGIC AND ITS-“
Anyway, what a hurtful but nice ending to the chapter too. It’s really sad to see Sunset and Aj hurting but at least they can hurt together.
I'm not familiar with your main source, but this is nice. A tough story of two weathered girls getting by as best they can. I like that AJ's fights with Applebloom and Macintosh are things they get over well enough rather than defining their relationship, just like family. Hoping for the best for both of them, and for a good ship together where they share each others' strength.: heart:
Well, this chapter was a hell'o'va good one. I like this one a lot. By the way, i need to ask a question. It's going tk sound racist as fuck but i need to ask it anyway. Why is Sunset black in the title art? I know, i know, it sounds racist. But i had to ask. My curiosity was killing me.
And I don't mind the question. Basically, I just wanted more diversity in the story. It's so easy to imagine all the girls as just white Americans, but late into the game I realized how enriching it would be to explore their cultural differences. Aaaand also I just think Sunset's colors look good with darker skin. In the end I'm still not doing anything too drastic. Most of the cast is still white. But even then, I wanted to expand on their different cultural backgrounds. Like Pinkie was going to be of Swedish descent and Rarity's I was thinking maybe Jewish. Etc.
If you want people to read something else first, maybe link to that in the description?

Thank you for bringing this story back! Can’t wait to read more of this and WTETG!

Maybe she could be a pony version of a mustang? Wild, moody, and free! 😂

Good to hear from you again! Your thoughts were pretty fun to read. I'm excited to see what you think of what's coming. 😄

Thanks for your thoughts! I'm glad you were still able to enjoy this even without reading the main story it originated from.
