If its to be a series it will be. I'm keeping my thoughts on it, and I already know how he'll react to a few characters. Also Luna doesn't hate him, she just rushed the conclusion because she knew how dangerous corruption was.

There was a trial, but Celestia didn't want to cause an issue by writing out I'm testing to see if he can be easily corrupted by dark magic. The effects of corruption were not super well known, so the circumstantial evidence was enough for a conviction for a 'lighter' sentence.

As for the one-shot...
Nice move of Twifail to bring Fluttershy with her - her presence on her own should've earned her a thrown knife into her throat by our resident exile. Fluttershy's presence alone helped to defuse that bomb, as well as provide the characterization of the kangaroo court that happened behind his back.
I still hope that he tells them to stick up where the Sun doesn't shine - with a special focus on Luna and Twilight.
There is no money, job, nor even post that can salvage the shipwreck that is this whole affair due to its long-reaching consequences. Hell, even if he returned he'd be a pariah because of them, friendship be damned.
The pony responsible for Celly's murder got off lightly - he's right from the start.

I mean, even REAL records of "Dark Magic" usage dating back to the times before Morgana Le Fay give out fairly common signs of what Corruption looks like! How can a world of ACTUAL MAGIC not have a list of signs?!

So...in light of the revelation about the 'evidence,' I'd probably be extremely tempted to tell Twilight to piss off, PTSD or no. So the big 'damming' evidence is...he spent a lot of time in the restricted section and was possibly corrupted by some books there.
...Yeah, so...you had no actual evidence he actually did it, and I'm guessing they didn't even bother scanning him like Celestia had been doing either? Not to mention his 'trial' was apparently such a sham they didn't even let him attend it. Yeah, if it were me, Fluttershy would have to hold me back from kicking in some Purplesmart teeth.
