Twilight Sparkle, former up and comer of the scientific world, now disgraced, is exiled to Ponyville at the command of the Scholar Queen. To live out the rest of her days there, far away from the capital.
Yet, it is not all dark and horrible here. There is happiness to be found even now, with the Everfree only a handful of yards from her doorstep. There are friends to be made. There is her assistant, Spigor, faithful as always. There are problems that have lain dormant for a millennium, that have been waiting for someone just clever enough to solve them.
Just the sort of thing to keep her busy.
(This is a retelling of the MLP story, set in a gothic horror-esque universe. For the purposes of this story the characters are human.
And Spigor is pronounced Spy Gore. It's a portmanteau of Spike and Igor.)

The nightmare moon equivalent in this story is a far enough cry from the one in the original that I don’t feel comfortable tagging it as nightmare moon.

This is super interesting to say the least. I really can't wait to see where this gothic stylize story will go. I hope Spigor isn't a child or a dwarf or something along those lines. I think it would be far more interesting if he was closer to her age and maybe even more physically imposing even if he couldn't ever raise a hand to Twilight. Which I think this could be super SUPER interesting to see the dynamic between Spigor and Twilight really worked on and addressed alot in this story. I mean Spigor was willing to suffer under Twilight's experiment, one that I can only imagine how painful and horrible would have been, for what I can only assume for her. He stayed with her when really anyone else would have seen him as a victim to her cruelty. I think honestly if he loves her, but has never told her that would be AMAZING. And for Twilight just think, out of everyone in her life, every one she thought she could count on only Spigor stayed by her side. He takes care of her, protects her, always thinking of her and her needs even when she honestly doesn't always do that for him. I think that bond would be such a amazing thing to see and to really see built up. Not to mention in a small town, lets face it Spigor will have a really REALLY rough time from what Twilight has done to him. Everyone will treat him like a monster for how he looks. And I can see Twilight being protective of him to a level not wanting to see her one and only true companion be treated like trash. Of course I can't wait to see what would happen if some drunken towns men try to attack Twilight one night, They will see how much of a Dragon and a beast Spigor will be to protect the one he cares about more than anything.

Well this was interesting for sure. I do wonder if Twilight's edge towards Rarity was because she was seeing what she would say about the state her arm was in or was it the fact that Spigor seem to be giving her so much attention for just meeting her. It would kinda explain the snappy response about the books right before they left. I am not saying Twilight has feelings for Spigor, I don't think she is capable of having normal feelings at all but I think she even knows that no one knows her or has been there for her like Spigor has and to see him show attention to others caused her to get a bit short. Hell the end of this chapter shows just how well he knows his mistress lol. I wonder tho how will the rest of the town people react when they see a half dragon walking around the town or the new creepy female that came along side him. It is looking like AJ might be one of her first subjects she is going to be creating. That would be a SUPER risky thing to do that is for sure. The Apples are the limestone the whole town is built, hell most of Equestria is built on. You cross that family you are asking for hell that is for sure.
This is very interesting. I did love the banter between Spike and Spigor. I do think that Spigor has a bit of battered wife syndrome honestly, but that might be the thing. He has been treated like shit his whole life, and someone does something he believe as kindness he is now clinging to that person. I do really want to see how deep is commitment to Twilight goes? How much of it is his feeling or his programming as a servant and if Twilight might have done something. I still find it a bit odd if she did change him into a dragon just because he desired it. But I think the biggest BIGGEST mistake Twilight did was what they just did. They haven't even been there A DAY and she already dug up a body. The every thing that got her banish for in the first place. And lets be honest if ANYONE in that town has half a brain they would go check that graveyard often knowing that Twilight is there and what her crimes are. Hell they should have been watching it or her on her FIRST NIGHT!!!!!. Long story I strongly STRONGLY think Twilight is a addict. I mean that is some clear addict behavior, going after her fix even when it is clear it isn't the time or the place to do it. When it is clear anything out of place it will point all signs to you. I wouldn't be shocked if she takes a hit of morphine before she goes to bed just show another way she is a addict.
Great chapter, happy to see it back with a new addition to the story. So many wonderful things happen this time around and I can't wait to see what will happen. I do not know how Twilight will come out of this. Even if she brings back Applejack. How do you explain this to anyone. She can't go back to her family as a walking corpse even if her friends some how come to terms with what has happen. This will be very enjoyable to see where this story will go from here.
