Having been forced to watch games of both by various obligations back when I was in high school, I can say without a doubt that football(soccer) is far more entertaining to watch. Also a hell of of a lot faster too so I can get out of the bloody sun.

Because American Football evolved from rugby football and association football. The major divergences were the legalization of blocking, the concept of down lines and the line of scrimmage.
Also, 'football' only makes sense as a name in English. Spanish still says 'futbol' (accent over the U) rather than, say, 'pelota de pie'.

Nah AFL is best Football. The kicking of Irish Football, the tackles of Rugby, the lack of body armor of Soccer AND you can plant your knee into your opponent's shoulder to catch the ball.
