Hay Committee is not just an expense category of Ponyville Town Hall for tea and cookies.
It's not even an attempt at community outreach (if you told that to Mayor, she'd be bewildered by the idea you needed a special name for that).
And, of course, it's not a shadow council that rules Ponyville from behind the curtain.

Hay Committee is just a group of experienced ponies from all walks of life, whom Mayor Mare trusts to give her advice on municipal matters.
They discuss a lot of questions that are vital for Ponyville to thrive, such as railway station safety or proper Summer Sun Celebration decorations.

That would've been of no interest for us if they haven't started an amateur detectives club.

Interesting, very interesting! It had a good mixture of Agatha Christie (with Granny Smith as a good equivalent of Miss Marple! :raritywink:) and Isaac Asimov's Black Widowers series!
Can't wait to see more of their investigations!
Although Twilight's theory was really more farfetched than what we would expected for her...

(I wonder if Rarity - being the mystery lover that she is - would be invited...)

P.S. Is Twilight an Alicorn in this fic? Once she was called an unicorn, but later Granny Smith called her Highness...

> Granny Smith as a good equivalent of Miss Marple
Yep, she's good.
However, I don't intend to follow "The Thirteen Problems" thoroughly as it won't always fit the character.
We can believe in incredible number of homicides in St. Mary Mid, but not everything in Equestria can conceivably have a farm analogy.

> Twilight's theory was really more farfetched
She's constantly been near the highest seat of power in the country for her formative years.
Something's got to sink in.

> if Rarity would be invited
Rarity operates at country scale.
I'm not sure she would be interested in a rustic municipal meeting.
Crime stories are just a dessert after some productive work.

> she was called an unicorn
Old habits die hard. Fixed.

I don't know.
Not intentionally, at least.

Always a pleasure to see some Agatha Christie and Asimov-style material. I enjoy the nod to the 'Black Widowers' style, and the ponies you have selected for it make sense. Well played, and I hope to see more.

Thank you.
I hope to see more too.
Sorting out my real-life issues and sorting out my writing style in the interim.

Wishing you the best with that.
