Twilight! This is getting out of hoof! The windigo has been appearing everywhere! And he's clearly targeting to you. I've tried to talk some sense into my sister, but she insists that you will resolve the matter on your own. I hate when she does that :/
ColdLight
Yeah, DarkSparkle, what's going on? From what I remember Windigos couldn't just waltz to places. Not with hearth’s warming going on. And if it can truly open portals…
Why didn't you tell anypony you were targeted? I'm so mad at you right now! One more accident and I'm ditching uni and going there!
LightSparkle
I know! There's no logic behind this! I went through all the scrolls I could find and nowhere is there any mention of this. For a moment I thought that it's a new reincarnation of Sombra. It isn't by the way.
Honestly, I don't know what to do, and I think keeping safe is the best policy for now. If something happens you and the girls over there might be the ones who'll have to take it down. At this point I'm not even sure that rainbow magic will work on it.
DarkSparkle
What do you mean you're not sure?!
LightSparkle
I mean he vanishes before We have a chance to cast it. So far, from what I could tell he can only do a few tricks: freeze, chill, and teleport anywhere he wishes through his portals. :/ I think he also uses the, to cause headaches to all magically inclined. TrueSparkle is still researching that one.
DarkSparkle
Twilight, this is most irresponsible. You've been fainting several times per week as a result of this Windigo’s interference! Did you forget you were the first pony he attacked?
ColdLight
That's still blurry… I have some faint recollection, but it's as if the memory has been pulled out of my head.
DarkSparkle
If so that is further reason for concern. There were a few similar instances during the storm in the Crystal Empire, but I always assumed it was due to the vicinity of the frozen north. So far I haven't found any concrete proof, but I think the breaking of the heart might have woken up the Windigo. If that is the case it's likely he's out for vengeance.
InItForTheShipping
What? How? We've done nothing bad to him! Why would he be intent on attacking us?!
DarkSparkle
That is a matter of interpretation. If, as I speculate, the absence of the heart caused the windigo to appear, the fixing of the heart made it so that none other appear. Imagine for a moment, what would you do if you know that someone is deliberately keeping your friends, your family, from appearing. What would you be willing to do?
InItForTheShipping
That explanation makes a lot of sense. It also makes the matter far more serious than my sister would like to admit!
ColdLight
But if that were the case why go after me? Wouldn't he just attack the Crystal Empire? Sorry, InItForTheShipping, but that doesn't seem to make much sense. :/
Personally I just things it's a manifestation of something, like Discord, that broke lose and wants to take revenge on Equestria for some reason. Whatever the case, the girls and I will find a way to deal with it. There has to be a way.
DarkSparkle
Maybe it's some distant brother of mine and that's why Celestia doesn't want to go against him?
What? You're all thinking it! Also, it's not like she’s not exactly mom of the millennium. She's nice, but she has her issues as everyone else.
LightSparkle
No, Sunset, you don't have any distant brothers or sisters. Only descendants of such. And I think she'd have mentioned that to me if it were the case.
ColdLight
Twily, you're being reckless. Just because you're a mare doesn't mean you have to go looking for trouble. You have nothing to prove.
SaltyHuman
I'm not doing this to prove anything! I'm doing it because this a wild monster that is freezing towns at random! Have you any idea what ponies and griffins are going through? It's not pleasant at all! I don't even want to think what will happen if he attacks the dragon lands… or worse! What will happen if he attacks Earth and claim their technology! This is bad, so bad!
DarkSparkle
Can't you attack him in his dreams? That would be an easy solution.
Simile
Simile?!? Why are you here? You can't be hearing this! It's just not… Where are you?
DarkSparkle
I invited her. She has the right to know.
ColdLight
Why am I not surprised? :/
@Simile, so it happened, didn't it? I'm not mad at you, but still… how on earth did you even think of doing something so absurd? Alcohol based ideas are not known to be wise.
LightSparkle
Well, excuse me, niece, but from my standpoint she only took the advice you gave her while I was visiting you.
I have “a solid job,” I accept her for who she is (“fetishes included”), just as she accepts me, we have similar tastes in many aspects, I'm dependable and “beautiful enough”, and so far neither of us have any complaints about our *yay* life.
Did I miss anything?
ColdLight
That's why you're my goddess ;)
Simile
Congratulations! I was wondering when you'd settle down! And I think you two compliment each other perfectly :)
It's wonderful that the CrystalCon wasn't just a fling. Will you get married or are you taking it slow?
InItForTheShipping
I… just… you and Trixie? Trixie?!? How in Equestria… I just…
DarkSparkle
@DarkSparkle: just accept it. I have :/
Getting back on topic, what are we going to do with the Windigo? So far he's caused relatively minor damage, but there's no telling how this will escalate. And no one can deny he is more than a little obsessed on DarkSparkle.
LightSparkle
I'll try finding a way into his dreams, but that’s not as easy as it sounds. The dreamscape is a large place and I don't know his anchor.
ColdLight
For the moment, I think it's best not to share our fears with anypony else. The site is already a tremendous help. We must just be prepared, especially you, DarkSparkle, and wait for our chance to act. I the meantime we'll continue with helping the affected and trying to find more about the Windigo’s nature.
InItForTheShipping
Luna… Trixie and Luna… I need a drink.
DarkSparkle
So... what's the distinction between chilling and freezing?
In any case, look on the bright side, Twilight! You finally have a stallion who's paying attention to you.
So portal does exist like most people thought. It was kind of obvious.
Also this Windigo is focused mostly on Twilight and this is happening years after the show I think. And it has been shown not to be a manifestation of Sombra. So options are its existing due to Twilight's own hate for losing a stallion cause thats drama, It was locked in the heart and might be a manifestation of the Umbrum just not Sombra, or it is an ancient Windigo that survived through the Friendship Fire from the past and was released because of the heart.
Huh. So this whole time Simile was actually Trixie (extra space here to throw off people who don't remove the spoiler).
Did not see that coming. For weeks now I've been so confident that it was Chrysalis (more extra space to throw people off) that I didn't even question any other possibility.

There might be a relatively simple explanation for it targetting Twilight.
Fires of Friendship banished them->One is released->Goes after the Avatar of Friendship, Princess Twilight Sparkle.
Truth be told, something tells me this isn't it, but it would make sense.
Well, I'm like a duck right now...
SIMILE IS......
AND WITH?! **!*!**
I'VE NEVER SHIPPED THIS!
This whole chapter is messed up.
Lol
Man it would be hilarious if he attacked the dragon lands! He's one cold-based being, they're a nation of fire-based beings, it'd be like an icicle trying to attack a volcano.
8387815 I thought the exact same thing.
Just idle speculation, but as far as the windigo's motives for targeting Twilight - what if Twi is Clover the Clever's descendant?
8387815
At first I thought it was either of them...but the more the story progressed the less sense it would make for it to be Chrysalis.
8387988
Maybe, but maybe not. We don't know the power this Windigo has. We also have almost no information as to what it can do with it's portals as well. I mean sure while dragons may be good offensively against it, they may be weak defensively to it.
8387785 8387868
No, no. He just has a fascination with purple alicorns. That's all.
I'm sure of it.
8387988
Well, unless it attacks quick enough. Remember, it's also a nation of cold-blooded reptiles.
(Unless, of course, "magic inner flame yadda yadda yadda")
8387785
i also wish to entertain this thought along with the possibility that the windigo might have some form of social awkwardness and a crush on @DarkSparkle
8387815
i know, right?
8388454
8388280
I thought about that too. Wouldn't be all that weird considering what already happened.
Also, while we're on socially awkward: I still want to see how Fluttershy reacts when her baby brother starts getting serious with mares. Let's not forget, all that cockiness if merely an act and the pony behind it has an ego as brittle as hers, only without a network of friends and several heroic deeds to shore it up. He's vulnerable, any forceful mare could take advantage of him easily.
8388655
Watch as we find out that the Windigo has an account on the site.
I think it's worrying that the Windigo is targeting Twilight. I had not expected Simile to be Trixie but one commenter did suggest that a few chapters back based on the moving around comment.
My comment, grossly mispelled as it is and spoilerish. Oh the Lunixie of it all!
Uh ... I fell off of this thing back when it was only 5 chapters of random fan-geek forum posts, I randomly drop into the recent chapters, and ... What the crap happened?! Windigoes, major global catastrophe plots ...
I may or may not read the interim 200+ chapters just to find out.

ColdLight and LightSparkle's identities were almost deliberately obvious (ColdLight mainly due to the nature of the chapter she's introduced in). LightSparkle most of us have been onto almost since the beginning tho I think. And I'm not entirely convinced Simile is Trixie just yet. I still don't get why Trixie would have to keep a low profile in Canterlot specifically. She never did anything bad outside of Ponyville and she even went on an apology tour. Plus Chrysalis would've had to transform to attend Crystalcon and nopony's gonna tell Twilight if this is the case cuz she might overreact. I'm not entirely against the idea of Simile being Trixie, I just want explanations for why she needs to keep a low profile in Canterlot and why it would be such a surprise to Cadence to see that Simile is a blue unicorn showmare.

I've been reading through this a lot recently, and I have to agree. Maybe more info is released later, but it just doesn't fit quite right. Trixie is maybe a two thirds, or even three quarters fit for all the information we've been given, while Chrysalis just fits too damn well, beating out Trixie in almost every major category.
Earliest stuff was just speculation based on her stories. She knows betrayal, she's good at action and adventure, but she's bad at romance and relationships. I could see Trixie being bad at the romance due to her self centred nature, she has shown interest in canon when it comes to action (told stories of fighting off an Ursa Major), but what betrayal has she suffered from? You could stretch it to say the betrayal of her audience when they turned on her in Ponyville, or maybe she considers the alicorn amulet incident a case of betraying ponies herself, but it doesn't fit well. Chrysalis on the other hand, she lived a life of action as leader of a war like species (two separate invasions of Equestria within a few years), likely has little experience with proper romance because she saw love as a food source (and essentially laughed at it in the Canterlot invasion right before being kicked out by the love bomb), and she met with the biggest of betrayals when her entire kingdom turned against her in favour of following Thorax, even if it was justified.
Next up: when Brush asks if she's a stallion, she responds with "I'm anything you want me to be", or something to that effect. Incredibly flirtatious. It's possible that most anybody flirtatious could say this online where there's no confirmation of their sex, but it is literally true for Chrysalis. Minor thing that's easily dismissed, but it's still there.
As you pointed out, Cadance was surprised at her identity (and I don't remember getting the impression it was a pleasant surprise, though I did get the impression they did reconcile). Why would that be the case with Trixie? The only way she knows Trixie would be as a hero that saved Equestria from Chrysalis at the end of season 6. Also you mention the whole avoiding Canterlot for "obvious reasons", which makes no sense for Trixie since she never did anything in Canterlot to earn a bad reputation and, as I said, would actually be a hero to the nation with the rulers owing her a debt of gratitude.
Next up: She wanders the land and has a tiring job. Okay, this one I admit fits Trixie very well, better than Chrysalis. She's a travelling performer and she pulls her home along with her, then she also needs to give her all putting on performances. You would need to make assumptions with Chrysalis for it to fit well. The travelling the land is an easy assumption since she's basically exiled from the changelings. The exhausting job? Who knows?
She mentions that she doesn't think Twilight is ready to see her, or forgive her, or something along those lines. That would be a perfect fit for Trixie... at the start of season 6 or earlier. However, this story takes place after the season 6 finale. Even before Trixie became a hero that saved Equestria in general (and Twilight specifically), Twilight had already learned to tolerate her presence because she was Starlight Glimmer's friend. Chrysalis once again trounces her in this department, there is little doubt that Twilight might not be ready to get along with her, or at least reason for Chrysalis to believe it.
Here's one that's a bit of a question mark all around. Getting to Light Sparkle if she is Sunset in the human world, as it seems almost certain she is. Neither of them have any particular reason to know about the mirror to the human world. Trixie, as a friend of Starlight who is Twilight's student (or close friend at the least) would have a potential avenue to hear about it purely because of proximity to Twilight. It's not too big a stretch that she could get to it. Chrysalis is a little less simple, though still possible. She likely had a spy network as the changeling Queen, so she could have learned about it years ago. She doesn't have easy access to the mirror, but then again, she can make herself look like anybody so she could theoretically get there if she did know about it. I give a slight edge to Trixie on this one.
Next up....Simile asking if Luna knew "what" she was. Trixie is, as I have established, a god damn hero to all of Equestria. Okay, so she's also a travelling performer and probably dirt poor. That angle could work for the "what" question, but being a hero would likely trump that by far. Chrysalis has very obvious reasons to be concerned about people not liking what she is.
How about something from drunken love confessions? Simile claims she's easily a 10. That fits Trixie's boastful attitude incredibly well. Chrysalis we have to infer is vain, and however likely I think it is, I'm not so sure that we can give nearly as strong of evidence as we can with Trixie. Here's the thing, though, she doesn't end it at saying she's a 10, she says that if Luna wanted, she could make herself into an 11. It half fits with Trixie thanks to her boastful attitude, and she is a show pony that may know some tricks to make herself appear more appealing. Chrysalis once again can do it literally.
What else have we got? Fireworks at the convention. Obviously that is stronger for Trixie as she is strongly associated with them. However, it's not unreasonable to think that Chrysalis couldn't have learned about it, or that she is the only one that would ever use them, so I consider it relatively minor.
The last one I can recall right now is of course the reveal in this chapter: the one who appeared to be with Luna at the convention, by Twilight's own words, is Trixie. Obviously, this is a big boost to the idea that Simile is Trixie. You'd have to argue that Chrysalis chose to disguise herself as Trixie. It's possible, of course, she wouldn't likely want to show up as herself. However...why Trixie? You'd think she would choose a disguise that's a little less recognizable than a hero.
Chrysalis fits the hints much better than Trixie. If it's Trixie, there are way too many questions that are raised about all the hints (why avoiding Canterlot? Why avoiding Twilight? Why is she concerned about what she is? Why all the implying she can change herself physically?), and only a few minor ones can be dismissed as small enough to not really matter. With Chrysalis you get questions too, but they don't seem nearly as big, with the whole "why did she disguise herself as Trixie" question being the hardest to deal with.
Like you, I'm not exactly against it being Trixie, it just bothers me because of all the holes her being Trixie creates.
I realize you, who made this comment a couple months back, may not care that much anymore. I admit freely that I just wanted to rant about this for awhile now, and I have used your comment as a convenient jumping board for said rant. I apologize for that, and wish you a good day.
edit: Seen in a later comment from the author that it is confirmed to be Trixie, and had been over Discord at one point even earlier. i still stand by what I say here. It bugs me too much what with all the questions it raises.
