Chapter 3: The Date

Ace was nearly sweating bullets. Today was Friday, and the fated day of his date with Sonata. Dark Magician Girl sensed his distress, and materialized to give him some words of encouragement.

"Come on Ace! This is what you've been dreaming of ever since you first saw her! You'll be fine! Just try and enjoy tonight.", she said with a smile.

"I appreciate the vote of confidence, but I'm still freaking out! What if I mess up? What if I make a total fool out of myself? What if I make her regret ever meeting me?!"

" 'What if' is all those things will ever be. If Sonata loves you like you love her, then she'll enjoy being with you through thick and thin."

Ace let out a deep breath. "Thanks. I feel a bit better now" Ace walked up to the door and knocked on it. Aria was the one who answered.

"You must be Sonata's date. Could I have a word with you?"

"Uh, sure?"

"If you hurt Sonata in any way, do anything under handed to her, or break her heart, I'll break your spine. Got it?"

Ace gulped. "Got it. But I don't know what I'd do if I ever thought of doing something that terrible." Sonata soon came into view.

"Hi Ace! I'm all set to go! So where's out first stop?"

"I was thinking the duel park. Sound like fun?"

"Sure. I brought my duel disk just in case." The two of them headed off to the duel park, and activated their duel disks once they arrived.

Ace: 8000
Sonata: 8000

"Ladies first.", Ace said.

"I summon a monster in defense mode and end my turn. Your move."

"I draw! I summon Skilled Dark Magician and Now I'll play Magical Dimension! I'll tribute Skilled Dark Magician to special summon Dark Magician Girl! Now Magical Dimension's other effect activates! I can destroy one monster on your field! Now DMG attacks you directly! Then I'll set a card and end my turn."

Ace: 8000
Sonata: 6000

"I draw! I summon Hammer Shark and reduce his level by one! This lets me special summon a level three or lower water monster from my hand! I special summon Starfish! Now I overlay my monsters to xyz summon Number 47: Nightmare Shark! Now I detach an overlay unit to activate his effect! I can target one water monster I control and that monster gets to attack my opponent directly! I choose Nightmare Shark! Fin Blade Slash!"

"Sorry! But I've got other plans! I activate Magic Cylinder! This stops your attack and deals your monster's attack as damage to you!"

"I guess you've got a lot of tricks up your sleeves. I end my turn."

Ace: 8000
Sonata: 4000

"My move! I draw! Nice! I play Dark Magic Expanded! This boosts DMG's attack points by 1000 since I have her on my field! Attack Nightmare Shark! Apprentice Dark Magic Attack!" Sonata's monster was destroyed in a blast of magic! "Then I'll set a card and end my turn."

Ace: 8000
Sonata: 3000

"I summon Gora Turtle and activate Torrential Tribute! Since I summoned a monster, all monsters on the field are destroyed!"

"I activate my trap! Eternal Soul! Every Dark Magician in my monster zone is unaffected by my opponent's card effects!"

"Didn't see that coming! I end my turn."

"I draw! Now I'll summon Gagaga Girl in attack mode! I'll have both of my magicians attack you directly! And that's game!" Both magicians fired twin blasts of magic that wiped out the last of Sonata's life points.

"I didn't even land a scratch on you. No wonder you lasted so long against Burst!", Sonata said.

"Thanks for the compliment. How about we grab a bite to eat? I don't know about you, but my stomach's growling."

"Oh! Can I pick the place?!"

"Sure!"

One taco joint later...

"You sure got a thing for tacos. Not that I can blame you.", Ace said in between mouthfuls.

"I know right? They're sooo good!"

"So are you having a good time?"

"I am actually.", Sonata said with a small smile. But soon her face grew a bit more serious. "Ace?"

"Yeah?"

"You were there when my family and I tried to take over the school right?"

"I was. Is this what you're so serious about? Sonata, I don't care about that."

"I know. But...when we used our magic our songs brainwashed the whole school! And after we were beat at the Battle of the Bands, supposedly everyone was freed. But when you dueled against Burst to tell me how you feel....I...."

"You thought I was under your influence."

Sonata teared up after hearing this. "I...I didn't want to hurt you by saying that."

"Sonata. I wasn't affected by your singing at all."

"What? Then...why were you willing to do what you did for me?" Ace pulled her into a hug.

"I fell under your spell long before you and your family ever sang. It was when I first saw you. The others were moody or short-fused, but you always had that beautiful smile and up-beat attitude. And ever since then, I've been under your Siren's Song." Ace then leaned in and kissed her, and Sonata blushed like crazy after hearing this. And then, something deep within her clicked after Ace pulled away from her. "Hey. Why don't we go do some karaoke? I'm sure we can both afford to make fools of ourselves."

"Sure Ace.", Sonata said with a smile. And with that, she and Ace headed for the karaoke place. Ace selected his song and prepared to sing.

Bit by bit I'm falling under your spell

Back when you first came into my life
I recalled a place that I knew as child
A special place, one that I held close to my heart

Sonata was freaking out on the inside! 'Oh man! I nearly forgot I've got no singing voice after the Battle of the Bands! And Ace killed it out there! Well, at least this is going to be memorable performance if nothing else.' Sonata choose her song, and prepared for the onslaught of boos about to be sent her way.

The whole place was cheering for her! Sonata couldn't believe it! "Sonata...that was beautiful! I've never heard anyone sing like that!"

"But...I shouldn't be able to sing. After our gems were destroyed, our singing voices were destroyed with them. So how is this possible?" Then a lightbulb went off in her head. That feeling she had when Ace kissed her, when something clicked after he pulled out of the kiss. It was because of him! "You...you gave me my voice back.", Sonata said almost crying tears of joy as she wrapped her eyes around Ace.

"Like I said. I was under your spell before you even sang.", Ace said as he returned her embrace. Sonata looked up, and closed the distance between them with a kiss. "I love you Sonata.", Ace said as he pulled out of their kiss.

"I love you too Ace.", Sonata said as she laid her head on his chest. "So what happens now?"

"I guess I should take you home now. Aria threatened to break my spine if I broke your heart." Sonata giggled.

"Yeah. She would say that." And with that, Ace took Sonata home.

7701897 well I'm expected something like where Ace is taking Sonata home and is at Her place and Adagio and Aria start liking him to that his been a good boyfriend to Sonata and as sonata and ace sit next to each other sharing a kiss telling each other that tell will always love each other no matter what happens
