Chapter 1:

Mail carrier with a wish

"I just don't know what went wrong." Derpy hooves said trying her best to look her boss in both eyes; right now she wanted to scream. 'dumb lazy eye getting me in trouble for the fifth time.' Derpy thought as she tried to make her lazy eye listen.

"Derpy you have been saying that four times in the last four days!" Her boss glared at her.

"I'm sorry sir I will try my best ne-" she was cut off.

"That is also what you said for the last four days Derpy!" Her boss frowned at her "I have no choice but to give you a month leave with no pay starting right now!"

She gulped, "oh no sir please give me another chance!" Tears started to sting her eyes,

"NO! I'm all out of chances!" Her boss growled, "go home and don't come back until the month is over!"

Derpy kicked at the ground, what was wrong with her today? was she not fit to be a mail mare? A small depressed sigh escaped her lips.

"Derpy are you ok?" Her friend Flitter said, walking up to her with her twin sister Cloud Kicker trailing behind.

"I messed up again and now my boss has me suspended for a month with no pay." Derpy replied as hot tears streamed down her face.

Flitter looked her in the eye, "I know just what you need to cheer you up." she said with a smile.

Soon the three pegisi where enjoying muffins at sugarcube corners, Derpy smiled, "thanks girls this is just what I needed." she said, popping a banana nut muffin into her mouth.

Cloud Kicker smiled, "You're welcome Derpy, Anything for a friend." she gave the gray pegasus a hug.

Derpy walked into her house as soon as the timer on the stove went off, "OH NO!" She screamed as she zoomed into the kitchen, "OH NO, OH NO, OH NO!" she grabbed an oven mitt and pulled the muffins out, smoke rose from the small charcoaled treats, tears started to sting at her eyes. "oh my poor muffins." she cried setting the tray down on the counter.

Hot tears dripped down her cheek, "what is wrong with me?" She sobbed, "I can't even make muffins right!" Derpy cried as she stood up and slowly walked to the fridge to get a can of soda.

She walked to the calendar, "maybe tomorrow will be better." She said as she marked another day off, "after all, just two more days before the Ponyville Festival.

"Being with friends, Dancing, Eating muffins and just having fun!" She smiled, "I can't wait!" Derpy turned off the lights and got ready for bed.

bright light burst through the bedroom window as Derpy pulled the blanket over her head, "just five more minutes muffin." the yellow maned pegisi mumbled in her sleep, a strange smell escaped the kitchen and Derby opened her yellow gold eyes, her irises were now the size of pinpricks.

Derpy shot out of bed like a rocket; she garbed a fire extinguisher from the wall and aimed it at the smoke building from under the kitchen door, puffy white stuff shot from the small tube pushing Derpy against the wall, fighting the push she kicked the door open and sprayed the room.
When the room was nothing but white she sat down on the floor and panted hard as sirens wailed in the dissents, ‘one of my neighbors must have saw the smoke and called 911.’ she stood up and opened the windows to let some of the smoke out; she then jumped out the window and walked to the mail box.

"Next time miss hooves, make sure the tray is in a secure place when you leave it." the Fire Chef said as he climbed into the fire truck.

"Sure thing." Derby waved good bye as they drove down the road.

Derpy walked to the post office ready to get the mail ready for delivery, "I have no choice but to give you a month leave with no pay starting right now!" Her bosses words came back like a haunting ghost, "go home and don't come back until the month is over!"

Doctor Whooves looked at the computer screen on the Tardis, he had been using it to look around outside, he stopped when he saw a gray pegisi walking along, something seemed wrong with her, but he couldn't tell what.

"Hey doctor, are we going to go outside and check out ponyville? I really want to see what it looks like in this time zone." A pink land pony asked, her green eyes questioning him.

"soon Redrose, I just need to do somethings and then we can go." Doctor whooves said putting his sonic screw driver in his saddle bag.

Redrose Heart blew some of her rose red mane from her eyes. "ok." she said getting her saddle bag.

the two walked out of the tardis, Redrose smiled happily taking in the warmth of Princess celestia's sun shining high in the sky, "so what do you think that knocking on the tardis was doctor? Redrose ask, "do you think it means your gonna regenerate soon?"

"I don't know..." Doctor Whooves shrugged, "it still gives me the shudders thinking about it."

Redrose smiled, "it's probably nothing." The doctor nodded in agreement.

Doctor Whooves looked around for the gray pegasus pony, he really wanted to find out what was wrong. He looked down at the ground and noticed Redrose's shadow was not next to him, looking up he saw her over at a hat rack looking for a hat to buy, "planing on getting a new hat Rose?"

she shrugged, "I just really like having one." Redrose said placing a small sapphire blue hat with purple feathers on her head. "dose this look nice?" She smiled at him.

The doctor shrugged and nodded, "nothing changed."
Redrose smirked as she went to pay for the hat.

"lets go find some place to stay Mr. laughs-a-lot." Redrose said walking to a hotel.
