Vinyl Scratch has it good.
As one of Canterlot's only dubstep artists, she's a breath of fresh air in a backbiting industry of classical music.
Her best friend Octavia, however, doesn't have it so good.
Rated T for mention of some not-so-SFW stuff.
Somehow, I manage to write sad fluff. I'd be concerned about my mental health, but I'm too busy writing.

I don't usually write comments this long on stories, so when I do you know you've done a lot right. To be honest I can't believe you wrote it in a morning.
SPOILER ALERT, SCRUBS
a) At first, I assumed this would be your average stupid Tavi/Scratch fanfic. Then it got to this:
And before I worked out the context, I couldn't help but think "hearth" was meant to read "heart". When I worked it out, this story got a lot of yes. Shortly after, I read this:
I was split 50/50 on what this meant at first. I knew Zeus had been smashed, but referring literally to the broken cello as Octavia's corpse... this got all my yes. I hoped for a similar quality throughout the rest of the story, and I wasn't disappointed.
b) After Vinyl's interview at the start, I honestly thought it was her comments that had made Octavia do what she did, right until Tavi explained what really happened with the conductor. The reader is inclined to think this, even though it's never said. GG.
c) I love how Vinyl is extremely assertive, almost to the point of being animalistic, even though all the othe protagonists are trying to be caring towards one another.
d) This little gem cracked me up and blew my mind at the same time:
That, good sir/madam/horse/thing/robot-ninja-cyborg-zombie-Nazi-alien-terrorist, is genius at its finest. If the glass is mostly empty, it's still partially full.
e) Although the story features both Vinyl and Octavia, they're not explicitly shipped, although they're certainly best friends. You'd be hard-pressed to find a hint at a romantic relationship between the two.
f)
g) On top of all the subtle little things which added up to me loving this fic, the pacing's perfect, the plot itself is a nice change from the usual, and emotion is pulled off effectively without any stupid over-used clichés or it being shoved right in your face.
Oh, there's so much more I love about this fanfic, but I'll be here all weekend listing everything if I try. Please, take this as a reward for your amazing efforts.

I don't think many people are awesome, but you're one of the people I do think are awesome. Seriously, this is better than a lot of published and monetised literature I've read. You're a genius. In fact, have these amazing ponywobs as further reward.
I love you so much.

You can't do this!
Do you have any idea at all how much paperwork has to be done before you make someone's day?
I have to fill out seven different forms in triplicate, and send a letter of requisition to the Mayor!
You can't just waltz right in here and make people's days like this; there's gotta be order!
I'm afraid I must ask you to cease and desist; stop your reckless happiness spreading, or I shall be forced to notify the authorities!
...All japery aside, you have no idea how amazing you just made me feel. Thank you..

... *coughs* What I meant to say is I thought I'd just lighten your day even further by adding this story to my user page. Considering a) I read at least five fics on this website a day (obviously not all the way through for all of them, as I'm a busy man), b) there are only two other stories on my front page (neither of which are my own), and c) I've been on this website for 238 days, that makes your fic, in my opinion, the best out of every 400 fics I read. I don't read badfics for the hell of it either - I don't even click on a story unless it shows promise of either originality or creativity.
So out of 1200 fanfics (yes, one thousand and two hundred) that can be considered at the very least "good", I'm ranking yours #3 at the very least. No, scratch that - definitely at least #2. (This definitely beats A Solution To Shipping. ) Maybe even #1, and I'm not even feeling particularly generous today. (I ate a large bar of Oreo-stuffed chocolate in about 2 minutes, in case you're wondering, and it was supposed to be a present for my dad. Nobody knows. )
I should probably also inform you that most of my brony friends tell me if I were an Element bearer, I'd bear the Element of Honesty. (Although that does make me wonder - if I'm the honest one, they could be giving me BS... )
Maybe I went into full-on rant mode there, but I thought you'd appreciate that. Good luck with that paperwork.
