'Dina awoke slowly the next morning, blinking her eyes against the light of the dawn. Some days, she wished that her training with the Elders hadn't been so thorough, and she could actually manage to sleep past first light. The bed was just so comfortable, she didn't really want to move. However, she knew if she tried to stay in bed, her body would start cramping up after yesterday, so she reluctantly rolled onto her back.
She began to stretch out every part of her body, unintentionally twisting herself into numerous provocative positions in the process. Had she known how exciting her morning stretches could be to an observer, she'd have waited a while in the hopes Spike came to wake her up, so she could give him a show. As she thought about him, she smiled again, slowly standing up from the bed. She paused before the full length mirror, looking at herself.
"'Dina," she said, looking herself in the eye. "I am 'Dina." She licked her lips, tasting the name. "Hello, my name is 'Dina. It's a pleasure to meet you." She loved the sound of that, and couldn't help but giggle as she bounced back and forth on the balls of her clawed feet, truly ecstatic. She felt like a hatchling again. With that joy bubbling up inside her, she bounced happily downstairs.
She found Twilight in the main room, writing what looked like either a checklist or a survey sheet. 'Dina imagined it was in preparation for quizzing her about dragons. She blanched a bit as she saw that the top of the scroll rolled all the way into another room. She wasn't kidding about having so many questions for me, she thought to herself.
"Good morning, 'Dina," Spike called to her, stepping out of the kitchen, carrying three trays of pancakes. He was wearing a plain white shirt, brown pants, and a frilly pink apron.
'Dina smiled at him. "It is a good morning," she said, hopping over to give him a hug from behind, consequently squishing his head in between her breasts. She giggled as she saw him blushing, still holding him tight.
Twilight rolled her eyes from the table. "Could you hold off on molesting him until after breakfast?" she asked jokingly.
"Twilight!" Spike complained, though it was hard to tell if he was aghast she'd suggest such a thing, surprised that she wasn't more upset, or unwilling to leave the quite comfortable embrace.
"I'm not molesting him," 'Dina corrected. "My hands are well above his waist."
Twilight chuckled. "Just sit down, and please try to respect his personal space."
Nodding, 'Dina sat down at the table, letting her tail hang behind her as she folded her wings flat against her back. Spike then set down the trays, one in front of each of them. "Buttermilk pancakes with powdered sugar for Twilight, and amethyst studded pancakes with sapphire sprinkles for 'Dina and I."
'Dina couldn't help but salivate at that description, picking up her fork to take a bite. The moment it hit her tongue, she let out a throaty moan of pleasure. "So good..." She glanced between a blushing Twilight and an even brighter blushing Spike. "What?"
Twilight blinked. "Am I going to have to clean the chair when you're done?"
Now it was 'Dina's turn to blush. "No, you won't. It's not quite that good."
Twilight nodded. "Spike, remind me to have a seat cover available for 'Dina when you make her a Ruby burger."
Spike, meanwhile, was blushing to bright to respond. He just continued eating.
Eventually, 'Dina finished eating. "Damn, that was good," she said, sitting back in her chair and stretching.
Seeing Spike once again rendered insensible, Twilight sighed. "I know dragons have no compunctions about nudity, but Spike grew up here, so for his sake could you meet our cultural norms? At least in public areas?"
'Dina blinked. "But...isn't this a private residence?"
"The upper floors are. But it's also a public library."
"Ah." Dina thought for a bit. "But...I only have the clothes I came in, and I can't risk damaging them. They're my flight clothes, they're all I own."
Spike blinked. "We could stop by Rarity's Boutique!" he said happily. "She could surely make you some new clothes to wear around Ponyville."
Twilight blinked, then chuckled. "She probably could," she mused, her voice somewhat mischievous. "But do you really plan to walk a naked dragoness across town?"
Spike blushed brightly. "Hadn't thought about that. ...maybe you could lend her your bathrobe?"
Twilight shook her head. "I suppose that would be somewhat better." She levitated out a fluffy, bright pink bathrobe.
"Have you got another color?" 'Dina asked. "Pink doesn't really look good on me."
Twilight glanced between them for a time, then grinned widely. "Well, you could borrow Spike's." Another robe levitated out. It was much smaller, less fluffy, and blue.
"That'll work," 'Dina said happily, snatching it out of the air. Stepping into the kitchen, she wrapped it around herself before tying the sash, then stepping back out. "How do I look?"
Twilight looked 'Dina over. The robe only just barely cleared her hips and part way down her thighs, and left a great deal of cleavage showing. Technically, it just barely met the textbook definition of basic decency...as long as she didn't bend at all the entire trip to Rarity's. "I suppose that'll work...somewhat."
'Dina smiled. "Great! Won't you show me the way, Spike?" Without really thinking, she bent forward towards him as she asked, giving him a glorious view straight down her generous bosom.
"Uh guh...I mean, sure," he managed to say, standing up and discarding his apron. "Follow me. I know the way really well."
Smiling, 'Dina followed him out the door. "Be back later, Twilight," she called over her shoulder.
Halfway across town, 'Dina noticed everyone in town staring at her. "Why's everyone staring, Spike?" she asked, just as a stallion she didn't recognize walked into a lamppost since he wasn't looking where he was going.
Spike chuckled nervously. "Well, dragoness or no, a hot, scantily clad female walking across town isn't an everyday sight here in Ponyville." He blinked. "At this point, probably about the only thing that isn't an everyday sight."
'Dina smiled at that. "I see. So they're all checking me out?"
Spike scratched the back of his head. "Something like that, yeah."
As he lowered his arm, she wrapped hers around it, clinging gently to his side. "And what about now?" She couldn't help but grin as she saw several stallions eating their hats and glaring at Spike...and a few mares glaring at her.
Spike blushed brightly. "Uh..."
'Dina giggled. "So, any idea why Rarity was so hostile to me last night?"
Spike shrugged his shoulders. "No clue. I know she's been kind of protective of my lately, but you aren't a threat to me, right?"
'Dina began to get an inkling as to what was going on. "I don't mean you any harm," she replied, "but that doesn't mean I'm not a threat according to her."
Spike blinked. "I...I don't get it."
"It's a female thing." 'Dina looked up. "Is that the boutique?"
Spike smiled. "Yup. Come on." Walking up to the door, he pushed it open, causing a bell to ring.
Rarity stepped out of the back with a smile. "Welcome to Carousel Boutique," she said happily, her eyes closed as she walked, "where everything is chique, unique, and-" As her eyes opened and fell on 'Dina clinging to Spike, her voice hardened on the last word. "Magnifique."
"Hey Rarity!" Spike said happily, disengaging himself from 'Dina. "Think you could make 'Dina some clothes? Taboos or their absence aside, probably not a good thing to have her walking around town naked."
Rarity nodded. "Indeed." She smiled down at Spike. "I'll get right on that, Spikey-Wikey." She levitated a measuring tape over from her work table. "Step this way, 'Dina. I'll take your measurements."
Smiling, 'Dina undid the sash, letting the robe slip sensually off her body, setting Spike to blushing and covering his face as a small gout of crimson flame once more erupted from his nostrils. "Go ahead."
Frowning, Rarity began measuring 'Dina, taking notes. "How do you maintain this figure?" she asked enviously after a time.
'Dina smiled. "Comes naturally to a dragon. What our body doesn't use gets burned quite easily."
Rarity nodded. "I'll have some simple everyday clothes made in a few minutes." She then turned to her work table and got to work, starting with drawing up designs utilizing 'Dina's measurements. 'Dina sat in a nearby her chair, crossing her legs as she picked up a magazine to flip idly through it.
Spike sat down across the room, obviously confused by Rarity's hostility to 'Dina. He decided to voice a question that had been plaguing his mind. "'Dina, what did you mean last night about my inner dragon being 'massive'?" He spun as a pincushion went bouncing off Rarity's desk. "Rarity?"
"It's nothing, Spike," Rarity said, blushing as she turned back to work.
'Dina chuckled. "I'll explain that later. It's a dragon thing."
"Oh," Spike said. "Okay." He settled for sitting in silence.
After a time, and some flying fabric, Rarity turned and carried some clothes over to 'Dina. "Here you go," she said, handing her a bundle of clothes.
'Dina picked them up and looked them over. The black shirt seemed to be the right size for her, even if it did leave her midriff bare. The dark blue sweatpants also looked to be the right size. However, there were other garments she was unfamiliar with. She lifted up the bra and panties. "What are these for?"
Rarity sighed. "I'll explain while I help you get them on." She picked up the bra.
'Dina stood up, then blushed. "Spike, could you step outside while I get dressed?"
Spike blinked in confusion, then nodded. "Sure thing, 'Dina." With that, he stepped out of the boutique.
Rarity finished explaining the purpose of the bra and panties as she helped 'Dina put the bra on. As 'Dina bent over to pull on the panties, Rarity spoke up. "You're perfectly content stripping in front of him or parading around nude, but you don't want him to watch you get dressed?"
'Dina blushed. "Clothing plays a part in dragon courtship. Females generally lounge nude in front of males while they prance or display themselves. A dragoness wearing clothes while relaxed is actively seeking romance. If she undresses before a male, she's teasing him. But...dressing while a lone male watches is...a challenge to the male to prove worthy of undressing her. Something a dragoness only does after she's been courted by that specific dragon for a while." She smiles as she pulled the sweat pants up, binding them to her with a belt. "I'm glad you didn't give me white. A dragoness wearing white is proclaiming she has no desire whatsoever for romance, and a directive to males to leave her alone." As she pulled on the shirt, she frowned. "And...if a dragoness wears a band of color around her right upper arm in the colors of a specific male dragon, it means she's promised herself to him and him alone."
Rarity nodded. "I...see. How does the male respond?"
"If the male accepts her and returns the feelings...then he gifts her a scale from between his wings, to wear around her neck, and she gives him one of hers to do the same." 'Dina smiled softly. "This is only done if the couple has chosen to be exclusive to each other for life. While not the norm, it happens frequent enough that it isn't seen as unusual either."
Rarity smiled softly. "That sounds so...romantic." She sighed happily.
'Dina smirked. "We'll see who gets Spike's scale."
Rarity blinked, blushing. "I'm sure I have no idea what-"
"You're jealous of the attention I'm paying him," 'Dina stated. "He has feelings for you, and you for him, but you haven't acted on them, and now you're jealous that he's getting attention from me."
Rarity blushed, but lifted her face. "He's a bit young, only 15. Don't you think-"
"You rate me at your age? Dragons age differently from ponies. I'm only 18." 'Dina grinned, showing all her teeth. "I won't steal him away if he wants to stay. But I'll be fighting for him."
Rarity blinked. "Why are you so fixated on him? You've only known him a day."
"Because he's the only male dragon in my age group I've ever met who looked at me and saw me, not Garble's Lesser sister," 'Dina replied bluntly. "Because he shows honor and integrity that the Elders could envy. Because, by the shapers, I've heard what stirs inside him, and I can't wait to see it come out."
Rarity blinked at her for a time, then nodded. "I...see." She brought her blushing under control. "Don't think you'll take him without a fight."
"Wouldn't have it any other way," 'Dina replied. "You may have a lead on me, but I have my own advantages."
Rarity managed to smile. "We'll just have to see if they'll be enough."
'Dina grinned even wider. "Indeed."
They both stared each other down for a time. Then Rarity spoke up. "Would you like to stop by some time for tea and gossip?" she asked.
"I'd love to," 'Dina replied. "I'm sure we'd have a lot to talk about. So what do I owe you for the clothes?"
"Consider them a gift from a friend," Rarity replied with a genuine smile.
'Dina grinned in response. "Thanks! See you later!" Waving, she headed out to join Spike.
Rarity waved as she left. Once the door shut, Rarity turned to design a new wardrobe for herself. "Not without a fight," she reaffirmed to herself as she worked.

...animoo?
is it wrong that i want Dina to win?
cause i want her to win....
4194791
Not wrong at all.
Let the games begin. Nice to see the two contenders on good terms. I also like the dragon lore you keep sprinkling in. Looking forward to more.
Keep up the good work. Deus tecum.
This is oddly adorable.I really want Dina to win, but if it becomes Sparity, I won't complain either way. As for spike, I can't imagine how he'd gonna deal with all this. It's like Ryoko and Ayeka. Only in this version the two of them being more tolerable to each other.
Spike got a mare and a extremely attractive dragoness fighting for him.
All my money is on 'Dina! I like the idea of her and Spike together.
4194837 I am with you there, I love it when a author give more detail about something that is all but a mystery to us. I can't wait tho for when Spike stop acting so timid. I know there is some for a 15 year old. But he is a mature 15 year old that has spent his whole life around women. (Just can't wait for him to hit her back with alittle more of that good old Spike charm ) See her get flustered for once. I have to say I am on Team Spike x Dina for now.
4194791 Nothing wrong with it at all, i am right there with you. There is just something interesting about Dina that I feel Spike would be a great match for. Not to mention that she could give him so much insight into what he is and still appreciate "who" he is. To be far, he is also great for her. As she said he sees her for her, not for who her brother is or anything else. So I feel they would make a great pairing (and not to mention with this story going to be a hit like I see it becoming I could so see a sequel with these two lol)
4194933 Lol I think that is a bet everyone is making, the author just did a great job creating a interesting and likable character that everyone can see is a great match for Spike (once he come out his shell and stop being so timid lol). I can see them really happy together giving each other the things they truly need (as well as hot wild Dina sounds, some crazy dragon nights) lol
I like the fact that even though they're rivals they can still be cordial to each other and maybe even friends. I hope it stays like that through most of the story with only a few heated moments.
The funny thing is if the genders were reversed and it was a male teasing a female the way Dina is teasing Spike, he'd get run in for sexual harassment in a New York minute.
But seriously, I am enjoying this story.
4194922 I agree, if Spike hooks up with Rarity I wont be mad, but I do feel there might be a deeper connection with Dina. How Spike will handle this is the million dollar question. Now I think when he sits down and thinks these through, he wont be able to dismiss his almost natural connection with Dina (as well as the life span thing) as well as she likes him for who he is and doesn't have any issue showing it to anyone. Can Rarity say the same, if so why hasn't she told Spike how she feels already.
...Okay, I just have to...
Looks like the gauntlet is thrown down and both competitors are up for the challenge of winning over everyone's favorite drake.
4194791 No because I'm rooting for Dina as well.

Spike: We're talking about sexual harrassment here, and I don't have to take it.
Dina: But you do want to.
Spike: Maybe so! But you don't know that.
There is only one possible solution: threesome.
I'll definitely will need to see how this develops....
The beginnings of a "friendly" rivalry......as Michael Buffer would say:
[youtube=www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSbFgt0wp_4]
And seriously, there is no way for me to even choose a side. Rarity's got the looks and the inside track as being Spike's friend, but Dina is a fellow dragon, knows what Spike truly is, and not to mention that she has draconic beauty that seems to blow Rarity away. Kinda makes me wonder why Rarity uses so much makeup all the time despite that she is naturally beautiful. It really is up to Spike. The classic nature (Dina) vs. nurture (Rarity) article.#
### please understand that I'm only saying nature vs. nurture because Dina is a dragoness, which to Spike would naturally be attracted, but we also know that Spike has been raised (nurtured) by ponies since birth, so it's only fitting that he's found beauty in mares as well, mainly Rarity.
Interesting love triangle we have going on here. I look forward to seeing who wins.
Great. Now I have the urge to look up R34 of dragonesses.
You know, with how much you're emphasizing how attractive Dina is, you're gonna have to give us a cloptional chapter at some point.
if there is no 3some then i play for team dragons
4195637
A friend of mine will be writing it when the time comes, since I'm not confident enough to do it justice myself.
>>The War is on
Everyone's picking a side.
Spike was raised among ponies, therefore, herds, and in closing, should pick both.
...
...
...
Okay, that was bullshit on my part.
I'm for 'Dina too.
Rarity has been leading Spike on for far too long.
I'm starting to think the majority of people on here have apparently succumbed to "New Girl Syndrome".
We have seen Spike trying so hard for Rarity for so long with little success. And boy, we have had to experience every friendzone, every rejection, every "you're a really good friend" lines that it's completely insane. Now all of a sudden, there's a new competitor, beautiful and downright sexy, quite sultry and seductive, and after two days of even knowing this girl, we have tossed the other girl aside. Seriously??!! I get it---after so much time, it's only fair that Spike has the chance to actually get to date somepony that has actually shown some affection and romantic feelings for him. I'm not even going after that she's a dragoness (obviously species is not an issue with Spike )
Tell the truth though: Are the majority siding with Dina because you are jaded of the lukewarmness between Spike and Rarity? Because she's a dragoness, and Rarity's a pony? Is it because it seems that she's more upfront about her feelings than Rarity is about hers? I have to say, a lot of you have a good point: Rarity's losing her chance by being hard-to-get. Personally I think that this is the catalyst Rarity needed. I'm not gonna pick a side though.
I've said it before, and I'm gonna say it again. It's too soon to say Spike should date one and leave the other by the wayside. I'm just saying that we have to truly know what both competitors really feel for Spike. That means no "love at first sight" (Dina) and no "conditional love" (Rarity). At that point, it should be Spike that decides. And whoever he chooses, whether it's one, both (hey, it can happen), or none (again, it could happen), I would hope that the loser understands and respect his choice.
And you can flame me if you want, but I don't care. Frankly, I can't just go out there and say one is better than the other and "too bad" for the one that he doesn't pick. That leads to really hard feelings. I CAN'T CHOOSE!!!!!
As an aside though, Rarity definitely needs to figure that out for herself, otherwise she's not even gonna get a chance, and she's gonna regret it for the rest of her life. Same with Spike--when that time comes, he needs to be a man and honestly show his feelings, otherwise he'll have regret for the rest of his insanely long lifespan. And ditto for Dina.
4196575
4188330 FIGHT!!!!!!!
4194791 Same
Wow. Things are about to get VICIOUS.
4196616 agreed
4198913
Willy...
4199296 WORSHIP HER YOU BLOODY HEATHEN
4199475
ok ok
4194791 if it is wrong i never want to be right ever again
Man use other names instead of Dina it start to get annoyin. For example the dragoness said....
Dafuq?
i cannot promise that..
4203747 Weird logic.
4194791 Same!
Dina better win. If this turns out to be a Sparity, I will be highly angry.
You missed a golden opportunity to have Rarity try to pettily discomfort Dina, by trying to tighten the measuring tape to painful degrees. Only to see that that doesn't work on dragons.
Also think you are spelling things out too much. Dragons may be blunt, but she is just infodumping here.
Still, you're doing alright.
4314020
I wouldn't be surprised it's both this OC and Rarity getting Spike.
4196571 well said
4196571 it's hinted that there are herds in dragon culture so that's probably where this is going
4208841
"I'm not molesting him," 'Dina corrected. "My hands are well above his waist."
BEST PART EVER 10/10
