Mourning

I pulled my lance out of the stallions chest as blood spilled out of the wound like a waterfall. It felt good. I knew that I had been different before, but now I had an endless bloodlust, and I loved it! I was stronger than I had ever been, I didn't even need to wear glasses anymore! It felt liberating. When I killed something I could control myself better, not just running off of instinct like an animal. I know that I used to have loved ones but now I didn't need them anymore, I had my two fellow generals Riev and Caellach. My wyvern was the only family I needed.

"Sir, should we continue to kill these citizens? They are just innocence." One of my aides asked as he watched the rest of my army slaughtering a small village. My wyvern growled as I turned towards the aide who had spoken up. I ran my spear through his chest while my now two aides backed up slightly.

"Does anyone else want to ask a dumb question?" I asked looking into their eyes, fear shone like a light in their eyes.

"N-no sir." They replied in unison. I grinned evilly as I gave a low whistle and kicked the body of my dead aide. In the blink of an eye my wyvern had grabbed the body and was greedily devouring it. I pet it while a shower of blood rained upon me.

"Good. I knew you two were smarter than that..." I said as I climbed up on top of my wyvern and settled in her saddle. Looking back I saw that my aides had mounted their wyverns and were ready to fly. It was an interesting process when I had to teach these crystal ponies how to ride a wyvern. Good thing that their were wyverns that lived locally, or else they would have to ride on something else as horses were just a bigger version of these ponies. This land was strange, but it was where the Demon King had summoned me to and there was plenty of ponies to kill.

Flying into the air I could see smoke stacks where Caellach's army had marched through the villages that were located on the eastern side of this land. The village of Manehatten sat in ruin bellow me while I could see Riev and his unholy army of monsters and undead heading down the middle of the country to the pony princess's palace. I was some what jealous that he got to fight actual armed forces that were guarding the city while I was to take all the villages and cities on the west coast. But their was still fun to be had with poorly armed civilians...

A bright flash of light blinded me briefly while I rubbed my eyes trying to see again. Finally my vision returned to me and what I saw shocked me. A gorge had been formed in the land when something had blasted it apart, most likely Celestia had decided to personally take care of Caellach, which meant only one thing... I had my wyvern dive to the right as a blast of magic flew past at amazing speed. Looking down where the blast had come from I noticed that my army was being destroyed by bat ponies at the edge of a forest. Flying down to the battle field I found my opponent waiting for me.

"COME, FIGHT THEE ON LAND!" A mare shouted up at me as my wyvern landed not to far from her. She had both wings and a horn meaning that she was an alicorn, and their were only two alicorns...

"You must be Luna..." I said as I watched her every move. She was used to being a hunter, but she would be much better if it was night out.

"And thou must be Valter, The Moonstone." She said with an air of royalty that was destroyed by the curve fitting black leather armor that she wore. She carried in each hand a short sword, one a brilliant white like a full moon while the other was as black as a new moon.

"You are as lovely as the moon... But as mysterious as the dark night... You are a prize that I wish to obtain." I said as she prepared to charge me, though I doubt that she would get anywhere near me.

"Now!" She shouted as a group of archers burst from behind cover and aimed at me, Luna charged at me as they fired volley after volley. I laughed as I simply waited for the arrows to slam into my fili shield, which had been upgraded from its origanal use by the Demon King, it now protected me from archers and the like. The first volley rained down upon my shield, a light blue bubble appearing around me and my wyvern as the arrows were destroyed. Luna stopped her charge in confusion at my strange defense as my wyvern with lightning fast speed flew towards her. She had barely enough time to roll to the side as my lance only grazed across her armor.

"You will never escape me princess!" I shouted as she ran into the forest, her troops retreating from the battlefield after her. One of my aides flew down to me and saluted.

"Sir, should we follow?" He didn't have anytime to react as my lance severed his head from his shoulders.

"I told you not to ask dumb questions you dolt." My remaining aide landed next to me and saluted.

"Sir, your men are chasing after the enemy. They won't be able to escape us sir." I grinned and clasped my hand on my aide's shoulder.

"You know exactly what to do." I said as he saluted again and took off. I knew that once night fell the enemy would have vanished as if they never existed. I now had something that would be more thrilling than killing unarmed civilians. Luna would retreat back to her palace to regroup her forces and would attack again. She would only get to the doorstep before I arrived. "More time to savor the hunt... And the kill."

I awoke as a beam of sunlight landed on my face, waking me up from the heat of day. Sitting up I yawned and stretched my weary muscles protesting after all that I had done yesterday. It was a miracle that I had been able to run for so long, as it had been a long time since I last moved. I stood up shakily and noticing that the fire I had made went out walked over to a pile of thick branches I had collected last night. Starting another fire I looked over at my prize, who was glaring at me. "Your finally awake." She said with a growl that made me frown.

"You stayed awake the whole night." I stated as I noticed that she had bags under her eyes. I had made sure that she wasn't going anywhere. I was a very paranoid man and had placed a small bundle of supplies near the large mountain in the center of the country, which so happened to be the location of the princess's new palace. It had been a steel lance and a ring that when placed on a unicorns horn made them unable to use magic which had been given to me by the Demon King. The ring was still there but the lance was rusted pretty badly, but was still useable. Thankfully Luna had stayed unconscious until nightfall but by then I had stolen some rope from a caravan and had tied her up with the ring on her horn.

"Alicorns can go days without sleep." She yawned and continued to glare at me. I believed her, but she obviously had gotten too used to sleeping everyday and staying awake every night. I walked over to the corpse of a manticore that had attacked me last night after I had gotten the fire set up. The thing had been easy to kill but had broken my lance, it had been a great dinner and would be a nice breakfast, but I would put its bones to use. Tearing a hunk of meat from the corpse I found an acceptable stick and used it to hold the meat over the fire.

"How can you eat meat?" Luna asked in disgust with a pinch of curiosity as I looked over to her lazily, giving her a toothy smile.

"I'm not a pony if you hadn't noticed yet..." I said as I returned my attention to my breakfast. "I'm a human, and we are omnivores." I slowly rotated the meat so that it would be cooked on all sides. It didn't take long before I thought that it was cooked enough. Looking over at Luna again she didn't look like she was going to be sick as I had thought.

"Most of our neighbors and even some locals like dragons and diamond dogs eat meat. I have dined with griffons before." She said as if reading my mind, which seeing as she couldn't use magic would be impossible. I looked down at the meat and back up at her, she gave me a grimace when she realized what I was thinking. "I would rather not eat meat." She said with a gag as I shrugged. If she didn't want to eat that wasn't my problem. Biting into the meat I hummed happily as it was the second meal I had eaten in... I don't know how long.

"How long was I imprisoned for?" I asked as I continued to eat my breakfast, grease from fat running down my chin.

"Around 1500 years." Luna said as I almost choked on my breakfast, causing me to cough for a few minutes. I had expected it to have only been a few hundred years, not over a thousand! This changed everything! I was going to have to find where my fellow generals were, as I had seen poor Riev sealed in stone, and I had no doubt that Caellach had shared the same fate. And my wyvern... Tears openly fell down my face as I mourned the loss of my only family member. She had been there for me up until the end, making sure that I was never hurt in battle.

I wiped away the tears and took a deep breath. Crying for those that were gone would not help me, and only made me look weak. A voice in the back of my head told me that it was ok to cry for my lost family, but I quickly pushed it back into the deepest part of my mind. Standing up I threw the rest of my breakfast into the forest since I had lost my appetite and stalked over to the dead manticore. It had broken my lance, but it's bones and stinger would make a nice spear. Cracking my neck I grabbed one of its front legs and pulled until I heard a ripping sound.

Looking down I saw that the only thing that was keeping the limb attached to it"s torso was some tendons. Reaching over I pulled those out and payed them to the side as I would be using it later, and finally got the limb free. I heard retching sounds behind me and didn't have to look behind me to know that Luna had thrown up whatever she had eaten for dinner the other night. It would surprise most that I was so strong, but when you are given inhuman strength by the Demon King you can pretty much do anything like this easily. I couldn't rip a tree from the ground or pick up a boulder that was the size do a house, but if I wanted to I could easily tear limbs off or leave a dent in a shield.

Setting the limb next to the tendons I went around to behind the corpse to get it's stinger. Grabbing ahold of it I punched the caudal segment just bellow the stinger. I think I learned about that in a biology class, but everything before the Demon King summoned me is blurry. Before long the stinger was free from the rest of the tail and I brought it over to my other materials. I cleaned the leg off of fur and muscle until I just had a segment of bone only about two feet long. This was going to be a small spear, only measuring about three and a half feet as the stinger was a foot and a half long.

Taking the bone I put four claws each a foot long at the end of it on the sides tips facing each other and tied some strips of tendon around them and heated it over the fire. The tendon shrank, holding the claws glued to the side of the bone. Taking it away from the fire I placed the stinger in between the claws, which held it firmly in the center. I wrapped the last of the tendon around the claws and stinger allowing the half a foot of the actual stinger to stick out. Heating it over the fire I was rewarded with a makeshift spear that had a venomous point.

Looking up I saw that the sun was directly over head meaning that it was noon, which gave me twelve or so hours to travel to the Everfree. I didn't need to get to the old royal palace but I did need to get to the Everfree, as the ponies never really liked it. The crystal ponies told me that it was because it was unnatural as clouds moved freely, plants grew by themselves, and animals fended for themselves. I had laughed at this, as it was the closest thing to my world and it was seen as unnatural. Walking over to Luna I found her shaking in fright as she watched me, an animalistic fear showing in her eyes.

"Now my princess, you and me are going to be taking a nice walk through the woods." I said as I put my arm around her waist and hefted her onto my shoulder. She protested for a bit saying that I was groping her ass and the such but I just ignored her and kept walking. I didn't have any trouble for a few hours until I ran into a group of patrolling gaurds that had hidden themselves when they heard me and Luna bickering.

"Your holding me too tight, I can hardly breath!" Luna whined as I sighed for what felt like the fiftieth time.

"I'm about to strangle you again Luna." I said as I walked into a clearing and stopped. Something didn't feel right...

"Why did we stop?" Luna asked as she squirmed trying to look infront of me. I simply waited and listened until I heard it, the sound of breathing. In a quiet forest it is very easy to pick out small noises, like a soldier who has been walking in full armor through a forest all day and is panting. I raised my spear and looked around, not seeing anything until there was a flash of metal in the sunlight. Taking off like an arrow I ran through the clearing, the clank of armor and shouts to halt following close behind me. Luna was yelling like a mad woman as she realized that we were being chased by gaurds.

I put a quick end to that by tightening my grip around her waist, causing her to yelp in pain as I almost crushed a few bones. I heard more running in the forest as two bat ponies burst from the forest and aimed their bows at me. The arrows were destroyed by my fili shield as I skewered one on my spear, throwing his body to the side I broke the others knee cap. Looking back I saw five guards closing in on me, and I knew that they would catch me eventually as I was weighed down by the princess. Standing my ground I killed the first easily as he didn't slow down in time it dodge my spear.

Dodging to the side the second's sword missed me and was stabbed in the throat, a chunk of flesh stuck to the barbed stinger. The third and fourth stabbed for my gut with their iron lances, but I was able to jump back in time. Throwing my spear like a javelin it stuck into the fourth's chest while the third stabbed for me again but I grabbed the lance and pulled it out of his hands which made him fall on his face. Stabbing that guard in the back I pulled the spear out and dropped to one knee as the fifth skewered himself on it, he dropped his weapon and coughed up blood as I twisted the lance, causing him to scream until he passed out from the pain.

Luna was sobbing as I walked over to the injured bat pony who was trying to crawl away from me. Stabbing the lance into her injured leg she screamed in pain as I twisted it. "Tell me, are you the only search party?" I asked as the bat pony looked back at me and shook her head.

"No, there are others who will show up soon and kill you." She said coldly and spit in my face. I wiped the spittle off my face and started twisting the lance again. Once I thought she had enough I stopped and asked another question.

"Do you have a map and a compass?" I asked as she nodded, tears streaming down her face soaking her coat.

"My companion has them." She said as I walked over to the dead bat pony and searched his body. Sure enough, he had a compass and a map of this part of Equestria on him, showing Canterlot, a town known as Ponyville, and the Everfree. Smiling I walked over to the bat pony as she watched me with equal amounts of hate and fear.

"Thank you for helping me, though I would normally enjoy torturing you until you died of blood loss I have a schedule to keep so i'll only break your other leg." I said cheerily as she looked at my with horror. Grabbing her uninjured leg I stomped on the knee cap, a satisfying snapping noise resounding through the forest. She screamed for a bit but passed out as I walked away, Luna still sobbing, which in my opinion is much better than her whining.
