Night Song is a young colt who was born into the community of the Children of the Night. There's just a small problem: He's afraid of the dark. And his family will do whatever it takes to make him see the beauty of the music of the night.
Nothing seems to work...until their patience with him is completely exhausted. Then, his big sister decides it's time for some...tough love, as she calls it. Some ponies would disagree with the phrase, though.
They might call it torture.

To be honest, I've been giving this story some thought, and...well, since I know exactly what I want to do with it, and where I want it to go, I think I can safely say you'll get your eight.
And maybe a few more besides. Last I checked, I was up to roughly twelve chapters worth of increasingly disturbing ideas.

Good read. Your writing is top-notch, no problems at all there. An interesting slice-of-life story with a very relatable protagonist. I really do want to know how things turn out. I should have to point out, though, that his parents are doing a very good job of making things worse, all things considered. Phobias can be alleviated by getting perspective, but too direct confrontation will often just reinforce them.
The bits with Twilight does not seem to have much comedy potential, though. She's reacting fairly realistically to a complete stranger getting too personal too sudden. If anything, it makes him seem a bit creepy.
Good story! Does not deserve those downvotes, no way, no how.

I'm glad you find Night relatable, as he's my first OC, and the nearest and dearest to my heart.
I know his parents are doing a good job of making it worse, that's actually the whole point. Thank you for realizing that, though. None of the folks I chat with online have spotted that.
And I realized the bits with Twilight were kind of creeper-esque when I wrote the most recent chapter. Good to know I kept her fairly IC, though. I'm hoping it's gonna have a bit more comedic value with the next one, and if I flop that try, too? Twilight will, in all likelihood, be disappearing from the story.

4146960 Yeah, the thing people forget about the whole "face your fears" thing is that you have to face them in such a way that you realize that they're not so bad. Do it wrong, and you'll just reinforce the conviction that the fear is entirely rational.
