Oh it is so good to read more about Alloy's life in the Bayou!
Good to see the stable is still kicking, and we shall see if a certain not-Scandinavian pony might have something to say about the group's new efforts!
And the lurkilizards do remind me why I insisted on power armor with lifeform-highlighting visor in Far Harbor
>insert description here<
welp, back to the reading cave with my ass.
Hey! You got featured today! Congratulations!
Our little blacksmith is always a treat to read about. Loved this chapter and I hope they get to clear their names soon enough.
So zebra stable in equestria ? The plot thickens.
I feel like that zebra stable is going to be important in the future.
A ministry building with a stable designed for a small capacity over a relatively short period of time that held zebras. Additionally it does not use the traditional Stable Tec numbering system, having an M in it.
Reminds me of that shelter in the Four Star building in Fallout Equestria that held traitors that smuggled in the Balefire Bomb that took out the city. I doubt it's related as that one was horribly constructed and didn't protect the occupants at all, while this stable was very effective and was probably made by Stable Tec based on the similar design.
Perhaps the M stands for Ministry. As I highly doubt the Ministries were infiltrated this badly, these zebras were probably allies. But to what end, I wonder?
7880659 Lifeform highlighting visor? Holy crap you're brilliant! I'm so sick of having to find a mountain of aluminum to repair my armor every time one of those jumps me. That might give me a far better chance!
Can't wait to read more!!!!
Alloy Shaper... Part Moses, part Donald Trump, and all blacksmith... There is nothing she cannot do--though it might kill her in the process...
2017 is the year of promptness, and not waiting a month to reply to comments! But because I see a handful of brand-new readers commenting on older chapters in this batch, I'm gonna reply to y'all first, so you don't end up flipping through this inevitably-huge comment to find the reply to you. And I gotta say this now, I'm always ecstatic to see new readers commenting on the early chapters. Thank you all so much!

I'm glad to see the prologue is still engaging enough to catch people's attentions, despite being a particularly slow chapter. I'll be honest, I only consider myself "creative" in some specific ways, like designing weird monsters. Alloy herself and the story that built up around her kinda came from an alignment of stars, where in the weeks following my first read of Fallout: Equestria, I saw a picture drawn by Azure of a Zebra pouring molten metal. I've never actually been able to find the damn thing since, even pouring through his tags on tumblr. Regardless, that art hit me at just the right time, and got me to wonder the cornerstone question - "what would a blacksmith be like in the Wasteland?"
I do hope you enjoy this crazy train!
7886653
Much as I said above, I'm still really happy that the prologue catches peoples' interest. And hey, if you started reading earlier, you woulda had to wait all this time to get to where the story is now! Glass half-full and all, hehe.
7888936
Ah, survivor bias. Well I obviously can't comment on that one way or another, much as I'd like to (and I've rewritten my thoughts on that about four times already for this reply, as evidence of such). But as for Grit and Alloy, I'll say that you are far from the only one to think such of them, though I swear I see Alloy shipped with Malice more often. Regardless, I definitely look forward to seeing what more you have to say on the topic as you progress through the story, hehe.
7890041
She definitely enjoys her creative side, no arguments there, though she also gets a certain thrill out of haggling, in some circumstances.
7892390
They don't come cheap!
7892403
And in bastard French, at that! I always have so much fun reading people's reactions to this.
7892431
Your guess would not be wrong, but you also already know that, since you've also commented on 10, hehe.
7892456
I mean, not to give away the ending of the chapter you commented on, but sadly yes. Quite a stir happened at the end of this chapter, and I'm still glad of that. I always considered as I was writing it, that if people didn't wind up split down the middle on whether they agree or disagree with Alloy's choice, I'd have done something wrong.
With that, all the comments on previous chapters have been written (aside from the first one from Chapter 14 below). New readers, consider the spoiler-line to be here!
7847052
Thank you! I admit, I don't actually know what FEQ stands for, but the meaning is understood (I think!). And I'm glad you enjoy Alloy's perspective. There's at least one comment from the Equestria Daily crowd on WEcon's story page that compares the idea of a story based off a merchant to the Senate hearings from The Phantom Menace. Pretty sure they didn't actually read any of it, but disparaging comments like that tend to stick in my mind. And I'm rather proud of Grit's reveal, so I'm always happy when other people enjoy it, too.

Always glad to hear from you, BG. And yes, thankfully the Stable itself is fine. Who knows, maybe Ikea-pony will offer supplies? Also, always glad to debut creatures from my backlog. Maybe one day bone vines will make an actual appearance. Maybe...
7880970
Well, hope you have fun in the reading cave, haha. I know I always have to buckle down and read my backlog in a big sitting these days. Hopefully chapter 15 doesn't disappoint you!
7881074
I saw! It was kinda crazy how quickly WEcon shot up there, and how long it stuck around. I checked the front page when the story picked up another downvote, since in my experience I gain one downvote whenever the story lingers on FiMFiction's front page. Imagine my surprise when I saw where I was! I really am flattered the story stuck around there for so long.
7881874
Thank you! Hopefully she can, indeed. It'll be a challenge!
7883571
Indeed, how mysterious!
7889580
It might be important, who knows! I have really enjoyed seeing long-time FoE and Fallout fans puzzle about this Stable, hehe. I wish I could comment on your speculation, but I always worry about accidentally giving something away. Still, by all means keep speculating! Reading comments like this gives me energy, and tells me I'm doing something right if people are left to ponder about the world, so thank you very much!
7893369
And while I know I've said this before, I will absolutely not take as long as it took for me to get chapters out in 2016. That age has passed.
7894948
Hah, that's one I haven't heard before, for sure.
Here's my review of the prologue and chapter 1:
Review
@Dandy Sorry if off topic- I don't see myself saying 'handle' anywhere?
Edit- Sorry, got question confused, I thought OP was talking about a door breaching choke, not some strange form of anti-door stock that as far as I know doesn't exist?
7906774 Your character analysis of Alloy ought to be expand upon.
Eyy, it looks like you're all caught up Dandy! Well I sincerely appreciate all your comments along the way. It's really satisfying to get these in-the-moment reactions, hehe.
7917341
Grit is good people.
7920227
Alloy's at a pretty low point here, and she's never been too aware of others, or at least how she can incidentally hurt others. She's an introvert, and faced with this kind of pressure, she wants to just retreat inside herself, y'know? Either way, she's not doing it on purpose.
7924496
I want you to know I grinned like a madman here.
7924988
:(
7927122
I'm quite glad you see it this way. Malice does that, it's easy to forget about what she's capable of as she's talking, and she's just so much fun to write dialogue for.
7927676
7929406
I'll be honest, I really wish I had explained this one better. Kyra's pitch was to basically make a
handclawguard that was wrapped in barbed wire, so she could give someone a nasty gash with a quick jab of the handle. There would be a guard that protected her own claw from the barbs, of course, though it would still be risky.ok i like it but i want to know is cars mean like train cars or cars cars
Finally caught up, and I must commend your work; the story's been truly gripping, with great pacing and well-written characters. As someone writing their own FoE story also set in a swampy environment, I can only hope that my Wasteland exudes half the character of yours.
And... is Chapter 16 ever releasing?
Damn it. The story was just getting better and better but it appears there has only been 3 new chapters since 2016... I hope you still want to write it
Finally got caught up! Man it's wonderful to get back into Alloys head, she's a wonderful character and has developed so much while leaving long strides for us to ride along with. Gotta say it's nice to see a chink in Grits composure, sure we've seen him falter and angry but not the sort of desperation that's going on now. It'll be interesting to see how the two play off each other in the coming chapters.
One small point of contention is that the pacing in these last two chapters seems to have been sped up? I don't know if I'm misreading things here but the resolution of the raider problem and then subsequent burying of Stable 15 kinda missed the emotional impact I expected. It didn't miss the mark just had a slight off feeling.
Love your work man and can't wait to read more! (Don't need to apologize about 2016, it wasn't the best year for anyone. Fandom included)
When the next chapter will be ready?
Oh joy, that dumbass Bourbon is going to be in the next chapter...
Honestly, I was hoping that this story would never have to bring him back into it. I wonder how long it’s going to take to convince him that he was wrong about them.
Here’s to hoping he gets eaten in the next chapter.
So a group of very strong individuals, which are resistant to radiation are needed, which are gonna be paid in garden space are needed to save a group of ponies that have a library stuffed with books made before the great war, very very well cared for books that is, with all manner of information about the old ways... about the old ponies... about Celestia and Luna... YO ALLOY! GET MY HINT! GO GIT A CROC ON YOUR TEAM INSTEAD OF WORKING WITH THE MINISTRY PONY THERE PROPERLY A VAMPIRE OR SOMETHING!
