Its got a lot of potential, this story. Now a name like Shade fot a human character tends to get people to make assumptions about the character before they really get to know the character, now I managed to avoid assumptions and keep reading and now I would greatly enjoy seeing where this goes.

No seriously dear author(s) stop with these awfull excuse for characters names. No normal human is called " Shade ". It's not edgy, mysterious or dark, it's just lame, because dark adjectives are used by every single emo authors on this site ( and other sites ) for naming their characters. Nightshade, Darkshadow, ShadowLight, have been used by thousand of bad authors in thousand of bad stories.
By themselves these names are joke, and any self-respecting author shouldn't use them.
As for the story it's bad for my tastes, the MC is a bland shell without any decent reactions to what happen to her. I don't care about her, I don't want to know what is going to happen to her, she's not appealing at all so far.

True, I know peoples naming their child " Diamond ", " Topaz " or with pun names. But it's not that common.
As for the story I can't take seriously a character with word like " dark ", " night ", " shade", " light " or any mix of these names ( or similar words ), because I've seen these names in way too many bad stories. And like I said, any author should avoid using these words, especially in a MLP context ( these words are way too negative for a MC, even the villains are more creative with their names ).

I will say I am greatly liking the story, and if I had to take a guess at the type of dragon that her form is inspired by i'd say a subset from the European Wyvern family of dragons if what the rough description in the story is anything to go by(and also somewhat from the cover image as well but I'll try and stick with what's in the story. And I find it strange that she wouldn't realize that the two things coming out of her head were horns but meh.) anyway I hope we can get a more indepth description of her face once she finds a proper reflective surface... And I wonder what her reaction to the ponies and the reactions of the ponies toward her will be once there is an encounter
