Drabble: The Wrong Answer
"What are you doing?" asked Luna.
"I am modifying a spell that's supposed to tell me who Spike’s mother is. Right now, it gives me the wrong answer,” Twilight replied.
"Who did the spell first tell you was his mother?"
"Well, me," Twilight said, laughing quietly, "but I'm not a dragon."
Luna turned towards the small basket Twilight kept at the foot of her bed where a small snoring dragon lay, shivering slightly in the cool night air. "He looks cold."
"He needs to be tucked in." Twilight pulled the blanket over Spike with her magic, and she was enlightened.

I actually tend to agree with this idea; I think that Twilight and Spike's relationship is somewhat complicated, as Twilight is Spike's guardian at the moment, and does do some motherly things in regards to him, but also oftentimes acts more like a big sister. I rather like the idea of Celestia being Spike's mother in some sense, though (and admittedly I am fond of the idea that Celestia is also something of a secondary mother figure to Twilight as well).
I think The Descendant put Twilight and Spike's relationship best when he said "Whatever they are to each other, he's her little one, and she's his big one."
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
It's really up to an individual writer/reader how they interpret Spike and Twilight (like I do, as I write them as mother/son)

I think everyone expects that one. But I like that it is the cereal, just to confuse people.
Plus they probably don't have Apple Jacks in Equestria, so it would be terribly confusing.
Out of curiosity, did you take a look at any of the other stories in the collection? You might enjoy some of the other RariJack ones if you haven't looked at them already. Caught, Collaboration, Hug, and Miracle are lighter stories more in line with Candy; Mirrors and Wet are more serious.

Thing is, when I first got involved with the MLP fandom, I wasn't that much of a 'shipper ... until I discovered the Twilight/Celestia collab. After that, I got hooked on those stories. The creative interpretations of the prompts are sometimes breathaking to behold.
Anyway, if you want me to pick a favourite, I'd have to go with Wet. Just because I love the creeping sense of darkness you wove into it.
I know the feeling (when it comes to keeping an erratic writing schedule). I have a couple of things I should be doing, but I can't really do any sustained writing until my hand gets better.

Admittedly, I really should get involved in some of the other prompt collabs, but every time I look I don't feel terribly inspired.
It is kind of ironic, really; RariJack wasn't really my OTP when I joined the fandom at all, but for some reason I really just enjoy the pairing a lot, and I keep end up wanting more good RariJack stories, and keep coming up with ideas for them myself. Ironically, I'm not actually terribly fond of most RariJack stories; I suspect I re-read my own stories so much because I feel like I don't get what I want when I read the RariJack stories by others. Maybe that's why I end up writing so much RariJack as opposed to other ships; I can find good stories which feature the other ships, but for my favorite one, I have to write it myself so it is just so.
I'm glad you enjoyed Wet; it is probably my favorite short story that I've written, though Mirrors also holds a special place in my heart, mostly because of the ending.
If you liked my RariJack stuff, you might want to check out some of my other stories as well; Temptation is probably my best RariJack shipfic that I have both published and completed (and if you liked Wet, you will likely enjoy it as well), and while I think that Shotgun Wedding will likely end up even better, it is, alas, still incomplete as I mentioned previously (though I do have two more chapters "on the way", I haven't actually gotten them finished so...).
If you're itching for more short stories by me, Famous Last Words is a set of three short stories that I wrote for the Writeoff Association a while back, and The Legend of Falling Rocks, Buffalo Brave is a collection of three short stories written in the form of faux Native-American mythology. They're both rather different from what is in this collection, but you might enjoy them as well.
I actually noticed that you put up your own set of prompt collab short stories a few days ago; I was planning on going over and taking a look at them. Out of curiosity, which of your own prompt stories is your favorite?

I've been feeling that way lately, too. Plus, there are so many great stories there that I sometimes feel a bit ... inadequate. You should give the Twilight/Chrysalis one a shot someday, though. It can be literally crazy in there sometimes.
Applejack and Rarity, being my least favourite amongst the Mane Six (though I always feel the need to clarify that I don't dislike them, they just aren't my favourites), I don't write for them very often, and the only times I've done so have been because of prompts. I don't know if you've noticed it, but there is ONE Rari/Jack story in my collection, The Brat and the Farmer. I dunno if it'll be to your tastes, though. Depends on what it is that you're looking for, I guess.
Mirrors was good, too. As was Hug. As was, heck, all of them are really good!
I'll definitely be looking at more of your works.
As for my favourite ... oh. Either Qipao (Twi/Cel), Longing (Twi/Chr) or Role Reversal (Flu/Rai).
