In another sign of how overly optimistic I once was about how long it would take me to get through this rewrite, back in January 2021 I had a cover for Volume 3 done by MRK50, whose absence from the fandom since then is much lamented. A little over a year ago I commissioned this artwork of Team SAPR, the stuffed beowolf and mascot of Benni Havens'; the artist, the very talented Tianshiko, had some health issues and wasn't able to work on it for a long time, but now they've finished it and I hope you'll all agree that it was worth the wait.

So... when I first started rewriting SAPR I told everyone that it would not impede the forward movement of the story. I never kept that promise exactly as I intended it at the time that I made it, but I never exactly broke it either.

Until now.

From now, I am ceasing work on all future chapters of SAPR (well, probably; there are four chapters written which I may put out, I haven't quite decided yet) will cease until the rewrite catches up with them.

So, a very kind reader on AO3 gave me a gift today, a SAPR-inspired fic called Red and Gold and I really recommend reading it because it is so good. I had the biggest smile on my face while reading it, she has some ideas for how Cinder could fight that I hadn't considered yet, the way that she writes the characters is spot on (for SAPR, at least).

As I just stated in my last blog post, the first two arcs of SAPR have been rewritten (in some places more extensively than others) and the second half of volume 1 is about to begin.

As the various different parts of the story are going up on AO3 as separate stories, this gave me the opportunity to commission more art, this time by the very talented Mayuki, whom I was fortunate to get a slot with before she became famous.

Sunset first meets Ruby at the dust shop where they both fight Torchwick. Sunset battles the man himself while Ruby deals with his goons; thanks to the intervention of Neo, Torchwick escapes.
