SAPR Rewrite Volume 3 Cover by MRK50

In another sign of how overly optimistic I once was about how long it would take me to get through this rewrite, back in January 2021 I had a cover for Volume 3 done by MRK50, whose absence from the fandom since then is much lamented. With the new phase of the story due to start on Monday, I can finally share it with you all:

Shameless shilling of my non-MLP fics

Those of you who enjoy SAPR, but who possibly find it a bit too big, a bit too slow, or those of who you don't have any problems with it at all but would like to read more RWBY fics from me may be interested in a couple of new fics that I've started fairly recently without any MLP elements.

Team SAPR and Fluffy by Tianshiko

A little over a year ago I commissioned this artwork of Team SAPR, the stuffed beowolf and mascot of Benni Havens'; the artist, the very talented Tianshiko, had some health issues and wasn't able to work on it for a long time, but now they've finished it and I hope you'll all agree that it was worth the wait.

    On the future of SAPR

So... when I first started rewriting SAPR I told everyone that it would not impede the forward movement of the story. I never kept that promise exactly as I intended it at the time that I made it, but I never exactly broke it either.

    Until now.

Signal Boost for Clockwork2003 - Urgent Help needed

On the future of SAPR · 3:03pm Apr 3rd, 2022

So... when I first started rewriting SAPR I told everyone that it would not impede the forward movement of the story. I never kept that promise exactly as I intended it at the time that I made it, but I never exactly broke it either.

Until now.

From now, I am ceasing work on all future chapters of SAPR (well, probably; there are four chapters written which I may put out, I haven't quite decided yet) will cease until the rewrite catches up with them.

This might be disappointing for those of you who aren't following the rewrite, for which I apologise, but from my perspective it has several advantages, not least of which that I enjoy writing the rewrite chapters more, that I can finish the rewrites more quickly - the plan is to move to a schedule of five rewrite chapters every two weeks, with one additional rewrite chapter coming on alternate Wednesdays in place of a future chapter; depending on how things go I may return to 6 rewrite chapters a week as I did at one point last year - and it will stop the thing that has been happening whereby rewrite and future chapters have been in dialogue with each other, as focussing only on the rewrite will make it easier for me to keep track of how everyone is feeling etc.

Once again, I'm sorry for those of you who aren't reading the reading the rewrite or who prefer the future stuff, but I think this is, if not best for the story, then certainly easier for me.

It's important to enjoy what you're writing! Carry on in the way you think is best.

Don't worry about us, take your time with your writing!

I think this is for the best, what you were doing was kind of absurd from a writer perspective, the equivalent of building a house while also doing the foundations. It should definitely clear the issue that the future chapters suddenly referenced plot points that just happened in the rewrite, even when the timing wasn't ideal.

As a reader I also not going to complain about you concentrating on the rewrite, considering that we are starting my favorite arc of the entire story, while the current chapters are in Atlas, where I have never been too interested.

Anyway, thanks for your efforts on making SAPR as good as it can be, it is one of the most enjoyable stories I have ever read (and I have read a LOT) so I am all into anything that will keep it like that.

Do what you got to do.
TBH, I've been waiting until the rewrites were finished to start a re-read from the beginning.

BUT, be wary of losing the story's direction.
I really don't want to read a blog this time next year saying that you spent so much time on the rewrite, that you forgot where the story was headed.

Still, I'm looking forward to the re-read.
I'm about to start the Horus Heresy series... maybe you'll be caught up by the time I'm done. :)

As someone who started reading the story from the rewrites... I'll all for this and I look forward to seeing more of the content I can read being pumped out.

I actually restarted after you started the rewrites and have been tracking along with the rewrite chapters. I planned to not read any of the future stuff until the rewrite caught up to where you were when you started the rewrite.

Good to hear on my part. I haven't read any of the future stuff since the rewrite was announced anyway. Too much of a danger a future chapter might reference something that hasn't happened yet.

Just as we were starting to explore the relationship between Sunset and Cinder. Damn. Hopefully the rewrite goes swimmingly. Good luck to you

Do what is best for you and for the story. If it means waiting for some time before getting more new chapters, so be it. I've found that patience pays off on this site; yours won't be the first story I've waited months on.

This is completely fine with me. Honestly, I fell behind on reading, and was using the rewrites as an excuse to avoid starting again. It's probably time that I start from chapter one and give it another go. Hearing about Ice Queendom has gotten me a bit interested in the series again.

Don't mind, I actually prefer the rewrites more, when comparing the main/original version of the story. And yeah I can tell that vast improvement in writing quality since 2018. Which is like dang 4 years already? Anyways love your work as always.

Well, I have been meaning to start the reread for a long time now, and I guess that this is as good a time as any. Thanks for always putting so much work into making a really great story for us to read. Most authors on this site wouldn't go to the trouble of reviewing and rewriting a story of this size at all. They'd simply shrug their shoulders at how choppy their early work was and move onto to other stories.

I started reading a... year or two ago? I think? And the story is absolutely fantastic, I love it to death.

I'ma still have to hold off on continuing until the rewrite catches up with where the story is. Part of my brain just sees those newly added chapters where I haven't read and something gets set off. I love the story, and I eagerly await when it's brought up to your new levels of quality, Cheers!
