So, it's been a while since I said I was going to write stuff, and then never did, but the good news is I'm actually working on the introduction to the next arc! I'm hoping to get it out later this week, actually. This arc will hopefully give me a chance to start branching out into a wider cast of characters, and a few years of writing will have helped me hone things a bit. Bad news is I didn't get lucky with the academic job market, so gonna be staying with my grad program another year instead. Good news, is that means I now have a finished dissertation basically and don't have as high as stress (beyond normal stress of teaching, research, etc.) and can have a bit more spare time to start thinking on the fic!

So, good news people: I'm actually getting to work on finishing up the last chapter of the current arc of "In Somepony's Shadow". Happy Hearth's Warming Eve gift, I guess (heh). Overall, if I had to go back and redo this, and bit more experience writing fanfiction and not RPs, I'd be tempted to say the pacing could have been a lot better, more drawn out conflict. Admittedly a bit of bad habit I've picked up is I can imagine some good scenes but get a bit impatient at the actual build up needed

Hey, so, you might have noticed I removed the "Romance" tag and removed it from the "Shipping" group. After giving it much thought, I decided the story would in fact work better if I didn't try and make it into a romance. There might be some occasional teasing here and there, and there's always a chance down the line that it could revert back, but as is, I think I can write it better without having to worry about romance than if I try and force it in.

“Even after all this time, I still can’t help but feel a little nervous seeing that space empty,” Luna said as she glanced at the base that was once the place where the statue of Discord stood, “I still expect to wake up one evening and find that my moon has indeed been made into cheese, as the foal’s story goes.”

So at the last convention I went to I got a sketch commissioned by Becca Hillburn (link above) to use as a cover image for my fic. Decided to just get a sketch to save some cash and vectorize it myself. And, well, here it is.

So, there was an anime convention last week I went to. Got a commission done and it came in today ^_^. It was only a sketch that I'll try and vectorize, but when it's done "In Somepony's Shadow" will have cover art!
