This is a genetic disorder whose exact causation is poorly understood, and whose consequence is that the sufferer's Cutie Mark either never appears (Type I Adermosignia, true "Adult Blank Flank Syndrome") or appears late, generally in mid to late adolescence (Type II Adermosignia, or "Adolescent Blank Flank Syndrome"). The initial condition required for Type I Adermosignia is a paired recessive gene (meaning that both parents must have the same recessive); some other genetic requirement seems
I've come to the conclusion that there is no way that the Ponies are genus Equus (the one including our world's extant horses, donkeys and zebras, and numerous extinct varieties). My reason for this conclusion are the existence of gross anatomical differences, even between the Earth Ponies and real horses. (I mention the Earth Ponies because they are the Pony race which is physically most like actual horses).
Introduction
I ask this question because I notice that a very common assumption which a lot of fans seem to make is that lesbianism is much more common among the Ponies than among Humans, to the point where Pony mares essentially default to falling in love with other mares. I find this extremely unlikely for several reasons, though the reasons are different based on different assumptions about how Pony sexuality (and especially gender ratios work.
The Hive Mind emerges from a sufficient congregation of Changelings (generally at least a hundred, though this can vary based on the intelligence and communicativeness of the Changelings involved). The smarter and better the Changelings at communicating, the fewer needed for a Hive Mind. The Hive Mind itself is not very intelligent -- it's only about as smart as a smart dog, though it can communicate and be communicated with more explicitly.
Biology assignments are an integral part of your academic journey, offering you the opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of living organisms. Whether you're exploring intricate genetic patterns, analyzing ecological systems, or deciphering cellular processes, mastering the art of creating a compelling biology assignment can significantly enhance your understanding and grades. In this comprehensive guide, we'll walk you through essential tips and strategies to create a top-notch
If someone was to tell you that the following five creatures evolved from a common ancestor, and that each new trait evolved only once:
Among my Changelings, the Royals (Queen and Princesses) are fertile, the other castes are not. The Queen can bear members of all castes including Royals, but Princesses can only bear members of non-Royal castes. There are also the possibilities of ultra-high-caste male Royals ("Kings" and "Princes") but they are much less common: most Hives don't have any.
I have a possibly uncomfortable question for all of you:
How does EqG-humanoid body hair work?
Introduction: I'm currently working on an evolutionary cladogram relating the natural history of the fictitious archosaurs which populate the My Little Pony universe. The most obvious of these are of course Dragons, but there are clearly related groups, such as River Serpents. This is something I might normally do in a few days, but I'm sure this will take longer, as no one is paying me to devise natural histories for fictitious beings, while someone is paying me for
Introduction
One question which suggests itself is the degree to which the Ponies, and specifically the Ponies of Equestria, are peaceful. To answer this question, we have to compare the Ponies of Equestria to the Humans of America, and then consider the ways in which different biology and culture affect the outcome.
I. Humans
I would start from the assumption that most ponies are straight, or at least bi, since they seem to have a human-like family structure with the major exception that ponies seem to leave home for good younger than is common in 21st-century America (but not younger than was common in the America or Britain of 1850-1900, which had a comparable technology to Equestria). In general, the Ponies seem to fall in love and get married (generally to members of the opposite sex, though there is at
In my recent short Going Aquatic, Skystar tells the story of how the hooved ancestors of whales of dolphins moved from land to sea, and says this gave the evolutionary-biology-nerd Queen Novo the idea to turn the hippogriffs into seaponies.
This one was more of a request for opinions than a theory post, so there's no conclusive worldbuilding for you to carry forward. The commentary I received back in 2017 was short and scattered, so there's no deep consensus wisdom to uncover.
Without further ado, here it is in mostly-original form.
Biology isn't really my strong spot. I'm more of a Quantum Physics kind of guy. But there is something about biology, about our bodies, that has always intrigued me.
Our limits.
Did you know that the body is actually capable of incredible feats of strength and speed, even without athletic training? I'm talking superhuman stuff. Strength that could lift cars. Speed that could match a rabbit. It's possible.
