I'm what the Japanese would call a "shinnichi": Someone who takes a deep interest in any aspect of Japan—geography, music, food, etc (If I am correct, it literally means "pro-Japanese").

In my case, mine would be the culture and language. Three days ago I decided to take a drive down the long road of learning to speak, read and write Japanese. Unsurprisingly, I'm still working on writing in Hiragana, the traditional Japanese writing form.
