Morning y'all!
Well, it's morning for me. Wednesday morning to be precise. Woke up to see a message in my inbox that AP got to the edit early, so figured I'd push it live without the pre-read since I'm going to be busy at school today. I am looking too forward to these three chapters to wait to publish. I still have to write them of course, but am I looking forward to it!
Happy chapter 29 release day! Almost up to 200K published words. Already surpassed that with unpublished words as I've drafted things for important future chapters a while ago, not to mention my "Electro Swing Bible" which I wrote after chapter 16 to just roughly draft the entire story from beginning to end. Still taking a bit of a breather in this one as we need to reload some guns after 27 and 28.
Special thanks to my editor AP to getting to this one early. I basically had this chapter done and ready for his eyes last Satuday (JST). Had a few uneventful days here in Japan and filled that time with enough horse word editing to give myself a stress headache from not giving myself any downtime. Anytime I stopped writing, I still felt like writing. Is that what work-a-holism feels like? Never had that happen before.

Time for an update since the chapter will be late. Still carving the chapter out of the first draft into a package that I am satisfied with. Sitting at over 6.5K words that are good, but needing ironing out. I assure you the delay has nothing to do with spending Golden Week playing through replaying Breath of the Wild and starting Age of Calamity.

Chapter 24 was a prolonged fight with rewrite after rewrite. I had to retool the same 3K-ish word scene three times, toning it down each time since Fleur was getting a little too wild for my tastes. Spent a lot of time looking away from the words over the past two weeks to detach myself from them adequately to take a chainsaw to them as needed. There were a lot of words left on the floor afterwards.
Today is the last day of my spring break vacation! Did you know what I've been doing since I dropped Chapter 22? Plugging away at this like it was my nine to five. I felt bad for delaying the last chapter with a spin-off Isekai visit and a contest entry, so when I got past the writer's block, I wanted to see if I could get the next chapter out before the school year started. Right down to the wire with five major editing passes performed over the last few days. You know what I forgot to check
After spending several days and nights getting familiar with the text to speech on FimFiction more than I'd like and putting several unnecessary hours into JRPGs before that, Chapter 22 is (finally) out. Full transparency, a few minor edits may occur once AP finds time to take a look at it, but I'd kept everyone waiting so long, I did my best to get this served solo ASAP. Been a minute since an update blog, so let's do some catching up. How're you all? I hope you're doing well. I am currently sleep deprived because a 7.4 earthquake decided I should get a shot of adrenaline at 11:30ish at night and I didn't sleep well at all after that. It does speak to Japan's dependable infrastructure that I lost power during the shaking, but once everything settled back down, everything was fine. Even my shelve protectors worked like a charm and nothing much fell over.

What writing Silent-verse Vinyl Scratch has been like the last month and a half.
So, 20K words later, and I am still stuck on 19. Good news is, I have plenty of things to draw from for later once some character growth happens, but she is a stubborn one. I am desperately trying to hit a story beat, but she just won't let me now matter how hard I try! It all stems from the reveal in the chapter 18.
Man, I was doing so good on getting the next chapter ship-shape, but now I have come down with what I think is a sinus infection. Flu and COVID tests came back negative, but good lord am I just tired and hurting constantly. This is the first time I've been out of bed today (which I will be going back into shortly), but entire life is being put on hold for this one. It has been a very long time since I've felt this bad.
