So... something came in the mail today... Figured I'd share my thoughts. Spoiler alert: I WILL BE GOING OVER THE SYSTEM ITSELF, AS WELL AS THE PRESENTATION IN THE BOOK!

I know a fair number of people seem to like listening to instrumental music when they are writing. Usually when the subject comes up, I pull out a few of my favorite non-instrumental albums to listen to. However, one type of music I listen to on occasion that might not be obvious to people looking for music to listen to that doesn't have lyrics. That would be video game music remixes.
Hey all, it's about time I did another blog!
I've been writing! I'm doing CampNaNoWriMo (that's a mouthful) this month - which is basically another National Novel Writing Month but less formal and with more freedom. So I'm not focusing one novel this time (I'm saving that urban fantasy idea for November) but working on various projects to make up the 50k goal. Projects include...
Rextro Sixtyfourus.
So, I have a gaming group that meets regularly for Call of Cthulhu. After some regular CoC investigations, some irregular ones, some dimension hopping, some other generic insanity, and a standard death to session ratio of at least 1, my investigators thought they’d been everywhere, seen everything...
So for the past couple months I've been working on making some video games. It started out as a on and off again hobby to help heal from a breakup. It started becoming more of a passion. I've taken a break from most of my writing in order to really put some time and effort into making these games. One of which is actually a my little pony rpg that I almost finished years ago, but only recently decided to complete.
Ok. So. At this point, if you're into Dungeons and Dragons, you're probably aware that there is a push to move away from the standard 'race' categorization of characters, as it tends to play into and reinforce real-world problematic conceptualizations of race. The other day, I bought a couple of PDFs from Arcanist Press which detail some new concepts for how to replace race with the concepts of 'ancestry' and 'culture'.
It. Is. Awesome.
Yeah, yeah, I'm talking about another Tabletop RPG.
Originally this was the system that was primarily used by Margaret Weiss Productions. As Cortex it was used in things like the Serenity RPG and the Battlestar Galactica RPG. Then as Cortex Plus it was used for things like Marvel Heroic Roleplaying, Smallville, and Firefly.
Quick update:
I have 2 stories being pre-read at the moment, so expect an update and something new within the month.
That being said, I guess some of my readers have already figured it out from the way I write and act but I really like RPGs. I have a nautic ton of books in my room and a whole hard drive full of PDFs of stuff that's out of print. And I am the one guy who actually pays for them on DriveThruRPG. Yeah, I am kinda twisted that way.
I posted this in a discussion for one of the groups I’m part of, but I’m going post it again here with maybe a bit more of an expansion.
Hey guys. I really hate making update blogs like this, but I just wanted to say something in case I look like a big fat liar to you.
I'll be taking a short break for awhile. Something personal's come up and I need some time to chill. It is nothing serious, trust me. Y'know how sometimes you die over and over again in a video game and you just need a break from it? Yeah, it's like that.
So, I only recently discovered Tails of Equestria. On a whim, I decided to look up if there was a podcast based off it.
Turns out there is.
HI! How are you doing? If the title doesn't give it away, I am looking for players for a My Little Pony themed tabletop rpg that will be recorded for my youtubes. It will be set in my AU that all my stories are also set in (So if you want to fuck up my entire lore, you know, go ahead.) and will be played using a heavily home-brewed version of the Blades in the Dark system. It will be played on Tabletop Simulator (A free copy will be provided if you do not already own the game) and will be made
It's a minimalist RPG system. All you need is 3 6-sided dice. It's pretty slick for what it is, and you can buy it for whatever you want.
Note, if you buy a physical copy there is a minimum amount you have to pay because the Printer still gets their cut. It'll tell you how much. PDF can be $0 if you want though.
I'm not going to claim that things are in any way "normal," now, or even that the "old normal" is something we should be striving for.
And, y'know, I still don't know if I can write silly pony fic right now. But at least I have slightly LESS of a sense of existential dread right now-- not to mention the fact that it looks like protest action around the world is beginning to have SOME effect for the better (though we really need to keep going).
So I was trolling on Amazon (gasp!), buying up some stuff to make my Aria Blaze cosplay for this years MSP MLP con (Go Minnesota!), and I said...fuck it, and went and but some stuff for my 360.
Ya ya, "Why don't you have an Xbox 1 yet?" Because scalebound got delayed! Boooo.
