Here's the personal.ini configuration block I use for Fimfiction:

is_adult:true
do_update_hook:true
fail_on_password: true
extra_titlepage_entries:prequelHTML,sequelsHTML,groupsHTML
custom_columns_settings:
storyId=>#storyid,r
likes=>#likes,r
dislikes=>#dislikes,r
views=>#views,r
total_views=>#total_views,r
short_description=>#short_description,r
groups=>#groups,r
prequelHTML=>#prequel,r
sequelsHTML=>#sequels,r
coverSourceUrl=>#coversourceurl,r
comment_count=>#commentcount,r

Note that all of the lines following "custom_column_settings" have a single space indent - this is very important and I don't see a way to get Fimfiction to display it correctly offhand. I also have various custom columns set in the "custom columns" tab of FFDL's settings, the ones listed here are simply the ones that are Fimfiction-specific.

Of course, you'll need to create the custom columns to hold these values, and make them the correct types (integers, dates, text, tags, etc.)

The configuration data would be great, thank you. Including, hopefully, a bit of information on how to use it. Would it be something I could just run the file through automatically, or would I have to spend a few minutes on each file?

I finally downloaded the portable version of Calibre after converting what feels like dozens of stories using a website converter.

I've noticed that the problem seems to be whenever the story tries to use italics. It might also have to do with quote blocks, but italics is definitely something that will make a story go screwy.

Hi everyone

Has anyone contacted the staff about these problems? I'd really like to help out fixing the EPUG generator but I'm not sure who I should contact.

366633 author, title, pubdate, last update date, number of chapters, reported word count, character tags, genre tags, "maturity" tags, long description, short description, likes, dislikes, views, groups, prequel, sequels. Might be missing a few. Note that some of these are Fimfiction-specific and will require some manual .ini editing to get them set up, I can copy and paste you the configuration I use when I get home this evening if you like.

There's a "Portable" version of Calibre you can run straight from whatever directory it's in, I don't know for sure but I suspect it won't make any registry changes when you install that one. Could be a safe way to test the program out on an otherwise unstable computer.

Has this issue been fixed yet? I'll assume not.
It's too bad. Now, I have heard that the epub format is a bit hard to make compatible with all devices. I don't know enough about the format to really say.

298114 I've noticed that it seems to break whenever a story uses special formatting, like quote boxes, inserted images, or just being in italics.

336832 What metadata do we get, specifically? I'm hesitant to download a program just to test it out. My laptop's registry is fragile, and I already did a full reinstallation a few months ago.

327093 Thanks for the link. This is what I've been doing to make these epubs readable on my ipod touch. It's damn handy, really. I wonder if I'm losing any metadata like covers or something, though.

My recommendation is to use the Calibre ebook management program's FanFictionDownloader plugin to get epubs of the fanfics on this site. It does a much better job making epubs than fimfiction's own epub generator, and you can get a bunch of nice metadata in the process.

If anyone is having problems using epub files from this site do this. Go to this link, and convert it. I did this and it fixed all of my problems when viewing my favorite stories on my iPhone.

Try downloading this on your PC, convert it, but keep the ePub format, then pull it on your iOS device using iTunes or Dropbox. Worked for me ;)

Yay, Tested on iPad 2 and iPhone 4, some stories work fine while others miss chapters :S

298114 That happens for me, to. :pinkiesad2:

how con I add stories? Ineed permissions, it says.

it's really disappointing, is the epub generator for this site just broken? I'd love to be able to read these on my iPad but it seems only to be able to give me the first page of every chapter, before reaching a mismatched 0 and p.
