How can Celestia stand to have such a weak military? I know the Mane Six have never let her down, but what if some or all of them were to die?

I think a major flaw is apparently too much reliance on the mane 6, or something that was never considered for reasons unknown.

I always thought it was for show. That you know they are just unicorns the main six always has magical bs powers, to help them.

1) Militaries are a major source of coups.
2) Militaries use up money and manpower that could be spent on other things.

I reckon it's more because, for most of her reign, Celestia could tackle an entire army by herself as easily as Rarity might tackle somepony wearing lime green with scarlet.
