Some things I noticed when perusing the 0.5.3 build of the site (I know it's alpha, so some of these are expected bugs, but I felt them worth mentioning):

-The white and red is a bit eyestraining. Understandable since alpha should be focused on GUI and not aesthetic, but... ow.
-Site doesn't autoscroll to the top every time a new page of fanfics is loaded from the bottom.
-No 'Next Chapter' button at the bottom in fics themselves.

The white and red theme can be changed once you have an account. I use a dark theme with purple instead of red and it looks rather nice. Still, there's something to be said for first impressions and the white and red is all that can be seen before making an account... I agree with the other things you pointed out, those would be improvements for sure. If someone from the design team doesn't see this thread I'll poke them later in the day.
