So, in the story I’m still currently working on, I was planning for one of the characters (who is named “Flutterwings”) to develop a slight crush on Thorax (who is reformed during the story)

The only problem is... She’s a changeling nymph.

Before you guys start freaking out about it.

1. Of course Thorax doesn’t notice this about her. Even if he does, he isn’t gonna like her back the same way she does to him. He may see her as a younger sister, but not a girlfriend. And Flutterwings will likely understand this sometime in the future.

2. Think of it like Spike crushing on Rarity

But do you guys think this is still “too weird?” If you think I should do it, then how do I pull it off without it being “too weird?”

Just right what you feel.

I usually let my hands work alongside side my brain and let them take control of my body.

In others words just write what you feel, think, and know and just go with the flow
