The Lion King
- Joseph Williams, Simba's singing voice, is the son of John Williams, famous film composer known for his collaborations with Steven Spielberg and composer of the Star Wars films. Joseph is also a member of the rock band, Toto.

Huh... and so it turns out it wasn't Matthew Broderick who did the singing for Simba. Well, then again, Williams doesn't get enough credit for his contributions.

7845126
Unless you count his tenure for Toto.

Cool. Now I'm imagining Simba singing Africa or Hold the Line.

Not a bad thought. If someone hasn't thought of that idea, that would make for some rather intriguing animations.

True, some of the facts may not be 'entirely' accurate. The Lion King 'does' borrow some elements of Shakespeare's famous plays but the originality of the scenario in terms of the story holds a slight bit of significance to the fact (Sorry Plymouth). I mean let's think about the story:

A kid destined to be a king, an uncle trying to remove him of his status to the thrown, his father dies and he takes the fall for it, he runs away from home, settles for a carefree lifestyle with two pals, finds love in an old friend who came to fight him, leads a revolution, and restores the kingdom...

Name one other Disney movie similar to that at the time.

7845118
Joseph Williams was involved a little bit on the Return of the Jedi soundtrack & he did a song for The Goonies & also did the theme song for Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears.

(I'm a fan of Joe Williams solo & Toto stuff🎶.)

Hercules & Toy Story
- Don Rickles and James Woods appeared in the 1995 gangster epic Martin Scorsese picture, Casino, starring Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone & Joe Pesci. Rickles, playing against his comedic typecast, is Billy Sherbert, one of Jewish casino boss Ace Rothstein's assistants. Woods plays Diamond, a pimp and Rothstein's wife Ginger's old flame.
* Ironically, Don Rickles actually appeared in The Frank Rosenthal Show, hosted by Rosenthal, inspiration for Ace Rothstein in the movie. Rosenthal was a notorious Jewish Chicago Mob associate who ran 4 Vegas casinos and was a control freak, Fed informant, skimmer, and wife abuser who set up the show as a publicity stunt to spite the higher ups who denied him his gaming license for his mob connections. This of course, angered the bosses. He survived a car bomb meant for him, which was an unauthorized hit, causing the mob to take out the one they suspect responsible.

He's definitely been one busy guy. But that is the life of someone who spent a lifetime on music and generating all the sounds we love hearing when it comes to the orchestration of a piece.

* Michael Douglas, who portrayed Hank Pym in the MCU, is the son of Kirk Douglas. Kirk, a Jewish actor, son of Russian immigration, is known for his appearance in two Stanley Kubrick films, Spartacus and Paths of Glory, and of course Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. He was responsible for kickstarting Kubrick's career, through his production company.

I know. What an amazing actor that was.

The Douglas family are such remarkable talent. Why a few of them were even involved in one episode of 'Tales from the Crypt' when a General's son was about to be executed for being 'yellow' in the line of duty.

* John Fiedler (Piglet) appeared in two films, A Raisin in the Sun, starring Sidney Poitier, as a man who tries to assign the protagonist's black family in a segregated community, and 12 Angry Men, starring Henry Fonda and Lee J. Cobb, as the Juror #2, a member of the debating jury in the courtroom who is awkward and husk-voiced similar to Piglet, who eventually vouches for "not guilty" on the accused slum kid.

I am familiar with '12 Angry Men' and never heard of 'A Raisin in the Sun' until today. But that's neat that Fiedler was involved with other movies aside from being Piglet. Although, he was the old man in that 'New Groove' movie.

A pretty amazing career. And Michael still acts from time to time. He's definitely been involved with a ton of solid features in his day.

7845138
It's like Jack Skellington singing Oingo Boingo songs Oh Wait...!

7847653
Ahh yes, good ol' John Fiedler. I remember him. I also remembered him in: Robin Hood, The Shaggy D.A., The Rescuers, The Fox and the Hound, as well as 2 Twilight Zone episodes & a very small part in the 1969 John Wayne masterpiece True Grit (He shows up at the end of the film).

That'll be the day, pilgrim.

That is correct. He's held a few roles in other Disney films, even if they weren't precisely the biggest parts.

* Johnny Depp had a minor role in the 1986 Vietnam War film by Oliver Stone, Platoon, starring Charlie Sheen, Willem Dafoe and John Beringer. He plays Lerner, one of the platoon members fighting the Viet Cong.
* Lance Henriksen appeared in the 1977 Steven Spielberg film, Close Encounters of the Third Kind in a minor role. He also appeared in James Cameron's The Terminator, starring Schwartzenegger.

Yes, I do remember that role of his in The Terminator. Lance was among the officers killed trying to take on the Terminator. But let it not be said he didn't have the guts to do it.

* Peter Lorre, who starred in 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, previously appeared in two Warner Bros. features, The Maltese Falcon and Casablanca, both starring Humphrey Bogart. In the former he plays sleazy Egyptian treasure hunter and secondary antagonist, Joel Cairo.
* River Phoenix, who starred in Rob Reiner's Stand by Me, is the brother of actor Joaquin Phoenix. Sadly, River died at a young age due to drugs.

I didn't notice Peter Lorre was in 20,000 Leagues. He's quite known for his creepy voice and such. There's a Looney Tune character based on him and Genie imitated him when he tells about his rule of not being able to bring people back from the dead.

7851553
He never played Igor. But that voice has been stuck with Igor for ages.

7851472
(Not including Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on Disney+) I don't think River Phoenix has ever been in a Disney film.

I remember Peter Lorre in 20,000 Leagues, Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, & he played a very small part in the OG Around the World in 80 Days film. Also, when Steven Spielberg met Ronald Lacey in Raiders of the Lost Ark, he reminded him of the actor.

7851472
River was also young Indiana Jones during the third movie and there could've been a chance that he'd have a bright future in the industry. But as it was said, soon as he got addicted to drugs and stuff, his life came at a rather abrupt end. And even if there was a chance he could've turned his life around, it was already too late.

7851553
I hear that Phil Hartman did his Peter Lorre impression when voicing the hanging lamp of Elmo St. Peters’ part shop in The Brave Little Toaster where he also did a Jack Nickleson impression when he voiced Air Conditioner.

During the production of 'Elemental':

Element City takes a bit of inspiration from New York City, Amsterdam, and several cities in China. In order for Element City to feel less like an alien version of real-world cities, Production designer Don Shank and his team brainstormed the evolution of elemental beings and their civilization.

Not many people talk about him despite the fact he's contributed just as much for Disney over the years. Just goes to show that some people could stand to use a little recognition once in a while.

* Tom Hanks, famous as Capt. Miller, Sheriff Woody, and Forrest Gump, is a distant descendant of President Abraham Lincoln. He is also a cousin of Mr. Fred Rogers, therefore making both men descendants of Lincoln.

Dramamaster829

7863580
I guess that would've made sense for Hanks to end up portraying Fred Rogers, whether we liked the movie or not. But perhaps the way he portrayed Rogers may initially have been based on how he himself remembered the man, if they are family (But that depends on how close they are).

Next thing you know, because Hanks is a descendant of Abraham Lincoln, next thing you know he eventually gets casted as the President (Although guys like Daniel Day Lewis already beat him to the punch). I don't know... maybe a cartoon parody or something.

7863582
So was George Clooney. Yes, he and Tom are family.

Are there 'any' other familiar facts that none of us know about? And do they even get along?

Okay, then Miguel Ferrer is also family with them. It's a small, strange world we live in after all.

7863590
Okay, I have no idea who that even is. But I'm sure he's had an exceptional career.

7863595
Miguel Ferrer was the voice of Shan Yu in Mulan. He was also in a huge supporting role in the original RoboCop. Also the son of Jose Ferrer who voiced Ben Haramad in The Little Drummer Boy by Rankins/Bass.
