The numbers are in earlier than expected! According to THIS, Star Wars Episode VII has broken Avatar's New Year's Day domestic box-office record, domestically surpassed Jurassic World as 2015's #1 movie, and has officially bumped Titanic off the #2 spot domestically as well, making it the second highest-grossing movie in the United States!

Worldwide, The Force Awakens currently stands at #4 of 2015 and #7 of all time. But it's only a matter of time before those records will be greatly threatened. At least, Disney's pretty sure of it.

For reference, it has apparently surpassed The Phantom Menace, which for a while was the second most financially successful movie in the world, and remains one of the most profitable movies in history.
