That's an interesting way of putting it, However I feel it might be a good alternate universe, where Starlight actually rips the time travel scroll and keeps Twilight and Spike Banished in the Past.

4888234 I now picture that desolate wasteland as just a PORTION of Equestria that Twilight, now calling herself magic, and Spike travel.... the rest of it is divided between her friends:

Loyalty owns the skies and Cloudsdale.

Honesty rules the countryside and Appleloosa.

Generosity controls most of the higher end of society and Canterlot.

Laughter..... she walks by herself making her entourage spread the joy of laughter.... if they fail she has fun with them.... LOTS OF FUN.

Kindness is in control of the Everfree Forest and cares for the animals living there.... hurt just ONE? She will make you SUFFER.
