“Where am I?”
“In the Village.”
“What do you want?”
“Information.”
“Whose side are you on?”
“That would be telling. We want information. Information...information...”
“You won’t get it!”
“By hook or by crook, we will.”
“Who are you?”
“The new Number Two.”
“Who is Number One?”
“You...are Number Six.”
“I am not a number, I am a free man!”
“Hah-hah-hah!”

Welcome to your home from home, Your Village.

This is the group for all stories based around or intentionally similar to the 1960s psychological the heck did I just watch thriller “The Prisoner”, starring, written, directed, produced, etc. by Patrick McGoohan...or its remake, I suppose—wherein people with particular knowledge disappear away to the isolated “the Village”, a forced utopia of mindless following meant to convince them to spill their secrets to live a peaceful life, but more than equipped to break their minds a hundred different ways if they resist. (Those taking a few hints from Starlight Glimmer are also allowed.)

Whatever the sinister intention behind your Village or its substitute, if your character suddenly wakes up in a new town of forced happiness and complacency or is given a number to replace their name, or if your protagonist “will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered,” then this is the Group for your story.

“Be seeing you.”
