I'm presuming you mean video games, not table top rpgs. I'd actually find the latter more likely, if not for the 'dealing with others at the table' part. As for the story idea, what would it bring to the table, other than the character's reactions? I'm not trying to kill the idea, but compare reading 'Character X reads/plays/watches Y' to watching a play through or review on YouTube. The videos have an advantage of a visual medium, but they still need to be entertaining (i.e: not go blow for blow...) or die. A story would have the same hurdles, with the added problem of having to describe the action...
