The Order of the Moon is a secretive order that originated since before the time of Celestia and Luna, who worshiped the moon. As Luna came to power, they recognized her control over the heavenly body, and worshiped her as their goddess. At the time, they were seen as protectors of the land, having outposts all over Equus. Then, when Luna was corrupted, they began to practice Dark Magic, in order to combat this new threat. This however, had a unforeseen consequence. The Order of the Moon was shunned and hated, feared by the powers they had gained. They drew back into their island headquarters, and have not been seen since Nightmare Moon's banishment.
