Although most of you probably already know this, many of the weapons used in Star Wars were actually real life weapons which were heavily modified with cosmetic make up to make them futuristic. So here's a few you may have missed just in case.

First of all is the good old E-11 Blaster rifle aka the Stormtrooper gun.

The E-11s used in Star Wars were actually modified British Sterling submachine guns modified with a small scope (which is on backwards btw) and a rail shroud over the barrel. Interesting trivia is that many of the Sterling props used on Star Wars could still fire blanks and if you look closely in some scenes, you can see the gun cycling.

Next is the RT-97C heavy blaster.

Carried by some Stormtroopers in some scenes, this gun was actually a German WW2 MG-15 anti-aircraft gun. Commonly mounted on German bombers, it was the Germany equivalent of M2 machine gun.

Next is the A280/A295 blaster used by the Rebel Alliance.

As this pic demonstrates, the A280 and A295 were cobbled together by taking an MGC M16 (a model gun of the M16 commonly used in cinemas to substitute real rifles) and even a few parts from STG-44 props and adding a few synthetic rails and scopes on it to give it a space aged look.

Boba Fett's EE-3 carbine rifle.

This blaster prop was actually made from a heavily modified WW2 British Webley No. 1 Mark 1 Flare gun.

Leia's blaster pistol.

We all know Han Solo's blaster is a cosmetically dressed Mauser C96 but what about Leia's pistol? Well Leia's blaster pistol prop was constructed from a Russian Vostok .22 target pistol.

The SE14 Blaster pistol.

This unusual looking blaster was used by Ponda in A New Hope (the alien whose arm gets chopped off by Obi-wan in the Mos Eisley cantina) and some stormtroopers are seen using this.
This blaster prop was actually designed by taking a Swiss Rexim Favor Mk5 submachine gun cutting off most of the barrel and stock, and added a futuristic looking scope.

Hope you found this interesting.

Backwards scope for stormtroopers.

No wonder they always missed.

3115856 I think in the Star Wars universe, I think the flash suppressor is actually supposed to be some sort of peep sight.
