Just a random thought: how many of the 27 people in this group like the Filly Funtasia thing, as it stands now, and how many dislike it?

How many even know what it's about? Going by the front page, some seem to think it's a movie, which... you know... it's not. It's going to be 26 episodes for the first season, and the trailer was, well, there's a bit of a funny story behind the trailer.

So what's the ratio here, then?

I'm at that "I don't really care about it" level of liking.

I'm just here because I love Portalz0r.

So far, like. Because, 1) I like pony AUs in general as long as they avoid concepts, assumptions and complications that usually spoil contemporary human-based universes related media. For instance, fables were originally invented as a way to drop some layers of obscurity arising from complexity of the world. And each new such pony AU can bring some new and good concepts, even if just something; and 2) I don't dislike G3 and most of G1; G1 can be looked at as just another fantasy adventure setting about ponies, and G3 as a heavily softened innocent comedy. So, why avoid the next one.
Not much can be assumed based on that trailer, though, what it will really be (if will be). Who knows.

I like it, just because I think it will be either legitimately awesome or so bad it's good; if the former is true (which I'm hoping for), then I'll likely be writing a crossover with MLP. If the latter, well, I'll still sit back and enjoy the absurdity of it.

Either way, I win.

I'm with you on that one. Going by the trailer and the toy bios, it looks like they're making a show by sampling from the pool of characters they've got already. I just checked, there's a lot to choose from (ie: quite a few good and a lot of bad), and it's all pretty well-defined. Some of the names are kind of a turn-off, so some of the toys definitely don't need to be on the show (Romantica, for one. It looks like they deviated from green Twilight's toy design some, though, giving her glasses and all). There's also only one character close to an alicorn, and it's a Faerie King, if I understand correctly, named Magic. Yeah, no idea how that's supposed to pan out.

Thing is, some of those toy bios are meh, but some sound genuinely interesting. Because the sets are ordered in settings, every race has at least one character that's a cook and one that's a hair dresser or beauty specialist, and one ruler. But then you get bios saying there's a fireworks specialist, a glass blower, a potter, a blacksmith... those don't sound half bad. Not all of the names suck, either; there's a Titania and Oberron, a Puk, someone called Agnix after the fire god (or whatever it was). There's definitely effort put into it, a lot more than I'd expect from just a kock-off, but it can go either way. Also, you have to admire the network's stance on fan communication.

Main reason I asked was because I wanted to check if it's worth posting an analysis I made. I'll keep it in obscurity for now.

I was in a mentally unfit state of mind. I don't even know what this is.

This guy. This guy gets it. We have much to discuss...

Don't forget about BALTAZAR the DRAGON TAMER.

Seriously, holy crap. I want to see him in the show so badly!

And in case you hadn't conned on yet, yes, I'm into this thing 120%.

Oh, I didn't forget about him. In fact, I'll see your show appearance and raise you with the following:
-his little pet dragon is black and named Coal.
-Baltazar himself is voiced by Julian MacMahon, and his catch phrase is either 'Charmed', or 'We're Doomed'. :pinkiehappy:

I'd also hope the gym teacher Filly is voiced by Bruce Campbell, but that would just be silly. They've already got a voice for that one, after all.

Unfourtunately I'm no good with voice actor names outside those on MLP, but I'll take a look on YT for him.
...
Hm, could be cool. I'd need to hear him actually voice acting to pass any proper judgement though.

Also about Baltazar, I really want him to be one of the first of the Filly fan-memes (like Willow being the bastard son of Chrysalis and Sombra). The first piece of fanart - Willthefilly - of him mistook him for a mare, so I've taken that and started drawing pictures of his female counterpart, Zariah. Wanna see?

3317214
Balthazar and Zariah? Oh, I've seen those already . I'm in the DA Filly group, as Xeregon.

3317233
... Oh snap, that's you? What a cool coincidence :yay:

3317244
Yeah, I go by the names RaichuWizDom, Xeregon, and Wise Cracker. Makes it seem like there's lots of weirdos like me running around :raritywink:. And yes, I'm the guy who wrote the 20-something-page articles on the trailers. Getting into the 3D modelling stuff, though, so may make my own Filly sometime.

I've got dibs on a bat Filly named Edward :pinkiecrazy:.

Edit: Phyrokyro, I presume?
Edit again: never mind, checked your profile. Dang fear of spoilers...

Correct, although I intend to change it to Parallel Black once I get premium membership again. I also usually go by Ruminard on MMOs, but that's irrelevant unless I join Legends of Equestria of course.

It's kind of cool to see us more active members grouping together like this. We're the first few members of the filly fandom, and I like the thought of us sort of "leading the way", so to speak, when the show actually starts.

Also, we'll have dibs on pretty much everything since this is like a repeat of the FiM fandom's early days and nothing's been made yet. I got genderbending and crossovers covered, and you seem to be our reviewer guy with all the extra info. Meanwhile, HereticalRants is the parodying guy who will probably be shipping all the characters with Maud in the near future.

Edit: You may have just been my 9,500th page view. Feel proud.

I'm with 2448559, 2449153, and 3315072.
This is kind of exciting (and on some level, somewhat frightening) because while I can't claim to have been around since day one with MLP, I got into it shortly after season 1 ended, right before the Brony thing really took off, and I've found myself missing those days more and more. Filly Funtasia, along with the immense promise the show seems to have thus far, almost strikes me as a "second chance," if you will. I don't want this to be a 'rebound' fandom, but on some level I'm hopeful we'll be able to remain more... nice(?) than many MLP fans seem to have become, with all due respect.

3317317 If I can get off my lazy rear and do something for once, I volunteer to be in charge of confetti reckless shipping. Like, seriously; we have nothing but two short trailers and some bios and already I've started insisting to my friends that Rose and Lynn are made for each other. :rainbowwild::twilightblush:

Y'now, that's exactly how I'm feeling right now. I joined at the same time you did, it seems, and I've begun to feel a bit sad when I think about how things were back then. How everything was new, and the internet was buzzing with so much pony activity there was just never a shortage of things to do.

So for me, Filly Funtasia feels like a break from MLP, almost like it's giving me a new lease of life, despite it being similar.
